During the training of outdoor expansion in Beijing, when the team members are completing a project, it is often a lively scene. But inadvertently, you will find that some people just go through the motions without putting in any effort, wanting to reap where they have not sown, and playing the role of filling up the ranks with unqualified individuals. This phenomenon is also unavoidable in our daily work. Some companies, facing such situations, would only arrange employees' work without giving them rest time. However, they neglect the establishment of work systems. Most lazy employees take advantage of the loopholes in the company's imperfect system to do things where they show up for work but don't put in the effort. In the long run, this not only affects work efficiency but also greatly influences others, leading to slow company development.
A long time ago, there was an event involving Lianchi from the state of Chu, who was a small merchant. He owned a horse. Every day, he used the horse to pull goods to the market for sale, including children's toys, seasonal vegetables, and small household items. That is to say, as long as it could make money, he sold it. Sometimes, Lianchi would also buy goods from other markets and then sell them at different markets, earning the price difference. In this process, the horse became Lianchi's means of transportation through aggregated cargo transport.
One day, Lianchi learned from a conversation with others that a certain place in Hebei Province was abundant in white sugar. The next day after hearing this news, Lianchi immediately pulled his horse to go buy white sugar. He thought that if he returned and sold the white sugar, he could certainly earn a good profit. After traveling for a long time, Lianchi led his horse to Hebei and successfully bought white sugar. Then, leading his horse, he hurried back. Along the way, Lianchi happily hummed tunes, but the horse was unhappy. The journey was already far, and now it had to carry a lot more white sugar, increasing the weight significantly, making it very tired.
Lianchi and the horse traveled for a long time and passed by a big river. Since it was winter, the bridge over the river was covered with ice, and this was the only path available. Having no choice, Lianchi carefully led the horse onto the bridge. Unfortunately, just as they reached the middle of the bridge, the horse slipped and fell into the water. The white sugar on its back dissolved upon contact with the water. When the horse climbed back onto the shore, its load was much lighter, and it walked faster. Lianchi felt regretful about the loss from his first attempt at selling white sugar. A few days later, he went again. Similarly, on the way back, he had to pass over that small bridge. The horse, remembering its previous experience, thought that if the stuff on its back touched the water, it would disappear. This time, the horse deliberately jumped into the river. Lianchi was puzzled: why did the horse keep falling into the water? Could the horse be fooling around with him?
Lianchi came up with a good idea. The third time, Lianchi bought a lot of cotton and placed it on the horse’s back. When crossing the bridge, the horse thought, "This load isn’t heavy, but wouldn’t it be better if it disappeared altogether?" So, while crossing the bridge, the horse jumped into the river again. However, the cotton absorbed water and swelled up, becoming extremely heavy. The horse couldn't get up in the water and was about to drown. At this moment, Lianchi pulled the horse out and said to it, "Let’s go home." After suffering the loss, the horse never dared to be lazy or deceitful again.
