The Galaxy Nexus manufactured by Samsung Sina Technology, February 27th morning Beijing time - LG plans to boost its mobile device sales through high-speed smartphones and hopes to gain a larger share in the smartphone market. It may also collaborate with Google to develop Nexus phones. At last week's Mobile World Congress (MWC), LG unveiled smartphones equipped with many advanced features, including Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core chips, HD 3D displays, long battery life, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich system, and 4G LTE modules.

LG’s recent releases include the Optimux 4X HD phone with the Tegra 3 chip and HD screen, Optimux 3D Max, the 5-inch Optimux Vu, and multiple L series fashion phones.

"We lost focus," said Ramchan Woo, head of LG's smartphone department, when discussing the company's past difficulties. "But we have returned to our fundamentals." LG believes that since it supplies many components for the iPhone, it should be able to independently develop excellent products. Ramchan Woo pointed out that various departments within LG supply displays, batteries, and cameras for the iPhone.

LG aims to break through in the smartphone field with its high-end models. Although it once held a leading position in the mobile phone market, LG has not continued the same success in the smartphone sector. Meanwhile, HTC, Motorola Mobility, and Samsung have all launched multiple hit products through their collaborations with Android.

However, LG still has opportunities: Samsung is currently the only driving force in the Android camp, HTC faced difficulties at the end of last year, and Motorola Mobility is busy integrating with Google.

Ramchan Woo stated that the Optimux 4X HD phone integrates the Tegra 3 processor, HD screen, ultra-thin design, long battery life, and LTE module, making it a full-featured product from LG. Previously, LG mainly sold relatively affordable mass-market products but did not succeed. Even the first dual-core smartphone, the Optimux 2X, which was launched last year, lacked many key features.

Ramchan Woo mentioned that LG will launch more competitive product lines this year to attract carrier attention. LG also plans to emphasize the promotion of LTE and quad-core technologies, but does not intend to spend too much on marketing, hoping instead that these products can open up sales channels based on their own high specifications.

With the increase in smartphone sales, LG narrowed its losses in the fourth quarter of last year. However, company executives warned that this strong performance might be due to the Christmas season's peak demand and may not represent a true reversal of trends.

Ramchan Woo also revealed that LG is negotiating with Google to become the contract manufacturer for the new Nexus devices, thereby gaining access to the next generation of the Android system early. LG had not previously collaborated with Google on the Nexus project but is now actively pursuing this opportunity. The next version of the Android system, codenamed Jelly Bean, is expected to be compatible with Windows 8 tablets.

The Nexus One phone was developed by HTC, the Galaxy Nexus by Samsung, and Motorola launched the Xoom tablet, the first device to adopt the Honeycomb system. However, early collaboration with Google does not necessarily mean high sales; the Nexus One and Xoom are good examples. Nevertheless, manufacturers can receive technical support from Google during this process.

Due to concerns among the Android camp over Google's acquisition of Motorola Mobility, collaborating with LG to develop Nexus devices would alleviate these concerns.
