The surveillance video shows that the beating lasted more than 20 minutes, with some passers-by laughing and watching from the front or even clapping. This happened at around 12:30 PM yesterday noon near the office of the Dushu Village Security Team in Luohu District. The security team explained afterward that many students had cigarettes in their mouths, they were aggressive, and there was only one staff member on duty who could not stop them.

A citizen saved the victim alone

A witness from the Dushu Village security team introduced that these students often wear school uniforms to fight and cause trouble here, and they also smoke and drink alcohol, collecting protection fees. They have reported this to the school many times but it has been ineffective. "The quality of students here is very poor. At the time, there was only one person on duty in the office, unable to manage!" explained the Dushu Village security team.

South Urban Daily reporters went to the nearby Songquan Middle School. Songquan Middle School immediately reported the incident to the police and retrieved the surveillance footage with the officers. The head of Songquan Middle School said that after an urgent school-wide investigation, although the students involved were wearing school uniforms, none of them were students of the school. There are at least three schools near the incident location, so it might be students from other schools. Additionally, the school is still urgently investigating whether the beaten student is from their school and will inform the public once results are available.

"Beat him! Beat him to death!" Mr. Yu heard a short man in a school uniform shout loudly. He then saw more than ten boys in school uniforms surround one person. These students all looked about 14 or 15 years old. Some hit with fists, others kicked with feet. Those standing on the outside threw cigarette butts from their mouths toward the surrounded boy.

Security team members say student fights are common

Yesterday afternoon, South Urban Daily revisited the incident location and found that the beating took place at three locations, all near the Dushu Village security team's office. We reviewed the surveillance footage which showed that apart from Mr. Yu, indeed no one else came to stop the fight. Instead, several men stood by watching and smiling. The beating started around 12:20 PM, lasted for seven or eight minutes, then moved to the entrance of the security team's office. The entire beating process lasted more than 20 minutes.

Citizen Mr. Yu introduced that yesterday at noon, while he was helping install curtains in Dushu Village, he heard commotion near the security team's office. Turning back, he noticed several students in school uniforms pushing each other, assuming they were just playing around, so he didn't pay much attention. After about seven or eight minutes, he saw a boy begging for mercy, with other students slapping him. However, passers-by did not intervene; instead, some laughed and watched, even applauding. Thinking it wasn't serious, Mr. Yu continued working.

Mr. Yu claimed that he couldn't bear to watch anymore, so he went to intimidate the students, saying there was surveillance and the police would soon come to arrest them. The attackers immediately moved to another location to continue beating the student. Finally, he rushed over and managed to rescue the boy from the crowd. Mr. Yu asked if the boy needed to go to the hospital, but the boy declined, saying, "I don't dare to tell the school or my parents," and identified himself as a Songquan Middle School student. He admitted that he had previously led people to beat those students, and now they were coming for revenge.
