The importance of interests is undeniable; without them, people today would lack motivation and monetary value. However, some individuals often forsake their long-term goals for short-term gains, even losing their sense of direction in life. This phenomenon is particularly evident in the desert survival project organized by Beijing's expansion companies. The ultimate goal of this desert survival project is rescue - as long as the people stranded on the island are saved, the project is considered complete. However, during the rescue process, some teams become distracted by interesting questions and props on the island. As a result, they fail to complete the task within the stipulated time, missing out on excellent opportunities. These intriguing props represent the small benefits that attract people's attention, causing them to abandon their primary objectives within limited timeframes. If such situations occur in real life, the consequences can be terrifying.
A long, long time ago, two people committed grave errors. To punish them, they were placed in a remote desert, tasked with walking to the sea without any food provided. After wandering in the desert for a very long time and nearing starvation, God appeared before them. God said, "I have a bag of fish and a fishing rod to give you both." With that, God tossed the two items to them. The two starving men quickly grabbed what they desired: one took the fishing rod, and the other took the fish. They then parted ways. The person who took the fish immediately boiled it upon seeing the other walk far away, devouring it all in no time. He continued his journey but, after many days without finding food, starved to death before reaching the sea. In his final moments, he regretfully thought, "If only I had chosen the fishing rod."
On the other hand, the man with the fishing rod struggled through the desert, searching for seas or lakes while enduring hunger but found none. Eventually, he too succumbed to starvation. In his last moments, he regretted not choosing the fresh fish instead.
Not long after, two more individuals were placed in the desert as punishment for their mistakes. When they were on the brink of starvation, God appeared again, offering them the same two choices: the fishing rod and the fish. Unlike the previous pair, these two did not separate after receiving their items. Instead, they collaborated, searching together for the ocean. Along the way, they ate two fish daily, enduring hunger, and ultimately traveled thousands of miles, relying on the fish granted by God to finally reach the sea. Using the fishing rod given by God, they began fishing by the sea. Gradually, they caught more and more fish, eventually having surplus. They sold the extra fish and, years later, married their wives and lived happily ever after by the sea.
