Following previous criticism of its restricted regional and time-limited invitations, "Guizhentang" declared that visitors would not be restricted by the original two-batch schedule outlined in the open invitation letter. According to China News Service reports, journalists learned during a visit to Huian County, Fujian Province, where "Guizhentang's" breeding base is located, that February 22 would only be a "media reception day," and not in line with the declaration that visitors would be unrestricted by the time arrangements. "Guizhentang," whose main business characteristic is "live bear bile extraction," appeared on a list of queued-up enterprises for initial public offerings announced by the China Securities Regulatory Commission in early February this year, after which opposition voices arose one after another. Subsequently, "Guizhentang" invited the public to visit its "bear farming and bile extraction" operations, deciding to hold a "Black Bear Breeding Base Open Day," on February 22 for media reporters, and on February 24 for people's congress deputies, political advisory committee members, opinion leaders, experts, scholars, and animal protection organizations.
