At the closing ceremony of the 3rd "Challenge Cup" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Higher Vocational Colleges in Zhejiang Province yesterday, several students from Wenzhou Science and Technology College showcased their newly designed eco-friendly "pet toilet," winning first prize.

In neighborhoods where pets defecate everywhere, wouldn't it be much better to have a pet toilet? This idea has indeed been successfully experimented with, and a national utility model patent has been applied for.

According to Lu Danshu's introduction, the entire toilet, including labor, materials, and subsequent maintenance costs, is approximately around 45,000 RMB. Although the cost is not low, the results are quite good. Recently, Lu Danshu signed a cooperation intention agreement with the Guigan Community of Wenzhou’s Shuixin Street, planning to install one on the community's ecological street.

This pet toilet covers an area of 1.5 square meters and stands 2.5 meters high. At the top is a piece of acrylic glass used to collect rainwater to flush the toilet, which also serves as a shelter during rainy days. The acrylic glass is supported by two steel pipes, one of which is used as a "lure column" to attract pets to relieve themselves here. Around the "lure column" are the pet waste slots made up of metal bars. When laid flat, these bars form a flat surface; pressing a button causes the bars to stand upright, dropping the waste into the feces treatment pool. Another steel pipe is a rainwater conduit that transports collected rainwater to a water tank for flushing. In between the two steel pipes is a stainless-steel box, which is the highlight of the entire design. This stainless-steel box connects to a feces treatment pool underground, where fruit and vegetable greens can be planted using nutrients derived from fermented fecal gases. This creative "pet toilet" can be installed in a corner of a neighborhood, not only looking aesthetically pleasing but also enhancing greenery.

Chen Xinyan is one of the participants in the design. She herself is a pet lover and keeps a golden retriever at home. This golden retriever is particularly mischievous, always defecating everywhere when out on the street, making Chen Xinyan feel embarrassed. Therefore, Chen Xinyan, along with Lu Danshu and other classmates, started researching pet toilets. After months of "research and development," the pet toilet displayed yesterday integrates toilet and greenery functions, receiving unanimous recognition from the judges.
