Di Yuan Instruments: Enhancing "Precision" through Independent Innovation

Yesterday morning, at Zhejiang Di Yuan Instruments Co., Ltd.'s calibration station, several technical workers were conducting pre-delivery inspections on various flow meters.

The company's calibration station, covering more than 2000 square meters, was built in 2002 and became one of the largest flow meter testing rooms in China at that time. The three large-scale testing facilities worth over 10 million yuan mainly handle daily pre-delivery inspections for flow meters.

Speaking of independent innovation, Di Yuan Instruments began a significant technological transformation and upgrade as early as 2002, and since then it has been unstoppable.

Enhancing Research and Development Capabilities through Multiple Channels

High academic qualifications are a major characteristic of Di Yuan Instruments' employees. Among the 180 employees, over 60% have a college degree or higher, which has strongly promoted the development of the company's technology.

In the R&D center located within the comprehensive office building of Di Yuan Instruments, 20 full-time R&D personnel are busy working in front of computers and small test platforms. They are all top graduates from various universities. Since the R&D center received the provincial-level title in 2002, these R&D personnel have completed multiple provincial and municipal research projects each year, making Di Yuan Instruments a testing ground for new products and technologies in flow meters within the province.

"We have established close technical collaboration with Shanghai University, through which we can stay abreast of the latest technology and entrust them to help solve difficult problems encountered in production," said Sun Xiangdong, vice general manager. Since 2006, a powerful team composed of nearly 30 Ph.D.s and master’s degree holders from Shanghai University has provided strong technical support for the company.

Moreover, Di Yuan Instruments has also engaged in strategic cooperation with American Foxboro Company to jointly develop several flow meters that can fully meet the needs of overseas mid-to-high-end customers.

After years of technological innovation and independent research and development, Di Yuan Instruments has achieved fruitful results in R&D, obtaining one national invention patent and eight utility model patents, winning one first prize and one second prize for scientific progress in Zhejiang Province, having one R&D project included in the National Torch Program, two in the National Key New Product Program, and five in the Zhejiang Provincial Key Scientific Research Program.

Production Technology Approaching World-Class Level

Currently, Di Yuan Instruments offers over ten thousand specifications of flow measurement instrument products across 15 major categories, including electromagnetic flow meters, vortex flow meters, float flow meters, and ultrasonic flow meters. Its sales network covers the entire country, spanning industries such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, environmental protection, and thermal power. This extensive sales network is thanks to Di Yuan Instruments' technology approaching world-class levels.

After passing the EU CE mark PED certification for pressure equipment, Di Yuan Instruments' YYK orifice plate throttling device was selected by the French multinational corporation Air Liquide Group, and both parties signed a long-term supply cooperation agreement. Additionally, the YYD-FOX electromagnetic flow meter developed by Di Yuan Instruments using the latest technology introduced from the American Foxboro Company enjoys a good reputation in the Asia-Pacific region.

"What makes us most proud is that we have successfully developed the YYD electromagnetic flow meter entirely on our own. It possesses five patented technologies and can meet the control, measurement, and management needs of various national economic industries," Sun Xiangdong introduced. The highest accuracy level for this type of flow meter in the world is class 0.25, while the company's currently produced ones have already reached class 0.3, very close to the world's highest level. Sun Xiangdong said that the company's sales revenue is expected to exceed 100 million yuan this year.
