The suspect in the crime left behind tears of regret. Due to leaving his post and sleeping on the job, Li Mou, who worked as a security guard at a certain unit in Huangdao, was fined 50 yuan by security team leader Liu Mou. On the evening of September 15th, after drinking alcohol, suspect Li Mou held a knife and rushed to the north gate of the unit where he stabbed Liu Mou multiple times. Despite efforts to save him, Liu Mou passed away. After committing the crime, Li Mou hid in the mountains for one night, then early the next morning, boarded a long-distance bus to Weihai, where he concealed his identity and worked as a janitor in a small restaurant. After more than 50 days of investigation by the Huangdao police, on the afternoon of November 7th, the suspect Li Mou was arrested in Weihai. Currently, the case is under further review.
Incident - [Rainy Night Murder] Security Team Leader Stabbed to Death
In July this year, suspect Li Mou was introduced to work as a security guard at a certain unit in the Huangdao district. Due to frequently leaving his post, being absent from duty, and sleeping on the job, he was discovered by security team leader Liu Mou, who fined Li Mou 50 yuan according to regulations. Li Mou harbored resentment towards this and even threatened friends that he would kill security team leader Liu Mou.
On the evening of September 15th, Li Mou drank alcohol with colleagues. During the conversation over drinks, the topic of being fined by Liu Mou came up. The more Li Mou thought about it, the angrier he became. Feeling targeted by the team leader and believing Liu Mou was making things difficult for him, Li Mou decided to teach Liu Mou a lesson. Around 9 PM, after drinking alcohol, Li Mou carried a fruit knife to the north gate duty room where he stabbed Liu Mou multiple times before fleeing. That night, Liu Mou died due to ineffective rescue attempts.
"Upon receiving the report, we immediately arrived at the scene. Due to the heavy rain that night, the crime scene was damaged. We carefully examined the scene and through interviewing surrounding personnel, determined that Li Mou was the key suspect," Deputy Captain Guan Tingming of the Huangdao Public Security Bureau's Criminal Investigation Team told reporters. After locking down the suspect, officers conducted large-scale searches around the crime scene and set up controls at nearby stations and docks. They also established checkpoints at intersections entering and exiting the city while searching possible hideouts such as rental houses and Yandun Mountain for Li Mou, but no trace of him was found, causing the case to temporarily stall.
Tracking - [Mountain Refuge] Surveillance Locks Down Escape Route
"We learned that Li Mou's daughter works at a certain unit in the Development Zone, wanting to work through her to reach Li Mou, but his daughter repeatedly stated that her father had not contacted her." Guan Tingming informed reporters. Meanwhile, the police conducted comprehensive controls on all possible locations where Li Mou could be hiding and reviewed surveillance footage from roads around the crime scene. After repeated checks, the police discovered that at around 5:30 AM the day after the incident, a man ran out from near Yandun Mountain at the crime scene and then boarded a long-distance bus, departing. Physically, this man resembled suspect Li Mou very much.
The investigating officers then located the driver and ticket seller of that bus. "The ticket seller had a deep impression of that man. At the time, the man was wearing security guard attire, his pants were torn, and he was completely soaked, handing over wet money to the ticket seller. After careful identification, this man was indeed Li Mou, who got off the bus in Weihai," said Guan Tingming. In the early hours of September 19th, the investigating officers set off for Weihai under cover of darkness.
Control - [Secret Investigation] Suspect Captured at Restaurant
The officers analyzed that since Li Mou escaped wearing security guard attire with torn pants, to avoid suspicion, Li Mou must have changed clothes. The officers immediately investigated clothing stores around the bus station. When they visited a labor protection goods store, the shop owner informed them that suspect Li Mou had purchased a set of sportswear there and provided an important clue that Li Mou might be working as a janitor at a nearby hotel. Based on this clue, the officers secretly investigated surrounding hotels and ultimately determined that suspect Li Mou was working as a janitor at a restaurant on a commercial street in Weihai.
"After locking down Li Mou's location, considering the large number of people dining at noon, rashly executing the arrest could cause chaos, so we did not act hastily. Instead, we waited until 4 PM on November 7th when the restaurant was relatively idle, capturing Li Mou on the spot as he slept in the staff rest room," said Guan Tingming.
Thus, after more than 50 days of arduous effort, the "September 15th" fatal assault case was officially solved. "I expected this day would come, but I didn't expect the police to arrive so quickly!" In the detention center, Li Mou shed tears of regret, saying, "Due to my impulsive actions, two families have been ruined. I am sorry to Mr. Liu's parents and also sorry to my daughter."
After consuming a liter of baijiu (Chinese liquor), the killing intent arose.
Yesterday afternoon, the officers escorted suspect Li Mou back to the crime scene for identification. Under police supervision, Li Mou moved slowly forward with handcuffs and leg irons. At the scene, reporters observed that Li Mou answered all questions posed by the police without any signs of tension or fear. "Because Mr. Liu always caused me trouble and bullied me, I became increasingly angry and wanted to quit. At 7 PM that evening, I first returned to the dormitory, taking the fruit knife from inside and then went to drink alcohol with a few good colleagues. At the time, I really didn't think about killing him. Later, after drinking approximately a liter of baijiu, while drinking, I kept thinking about Mr. Liu's issues, becoming angrier. I called Mr. Liu on the phone during the meal, asking him to find me. By then, I already had the intention to kill Mr. Liu. I thought since Mr. Liu insulted me like that, I couldn't swallow this humiliation, so I planned to kill Mr. Liu. At that moment, I felt if I didn't vent this anger, I couldn't survive either," Li Mou said. That night, after stabbing Mr. Liu, he directly ran to Yandun Mountain nearby, casually sticking the knife into the ground, then grabbing some soil and leaves from nearby to cover the handle of the knife. He spent the entire night in the rain on the mountain, then took a long-distance bus to Weihai the next day.
When Li Mou identified the crime scene, many colleagues from the unit heard about it and gathered to watch. "He had decent interpersonal relationships, just didn't get along well with the team leader. He previously said he would kill him, but I didn't expect him to be so ruthless," said Zhao Shifu, also a security guard.
[Visit] Speaking of Daughter, Tears Flow Freely
Yesterday morning, at the Huangdao Detention Center, 47-year-old suspect Li Mou spoke of his daughter with tears streaming down his face. "When my daughter was only five months old, I divorced my ex-wife. Later, I single-handedly raised my daughter and moved from our hometown in Northeast China to Qingdao to do small businesses, selling fruits, delivering milk, and selling vegetables in both Jimo and downtown Qingdao areas. It wasn't until late July this year that I started working as a security guard at the current unit. Only my daughter and I know how hard it has been. It wasn't easy raising her to this point," Li Mou said. Now, what concerns him most is his daughter, who is unmarried. If others knew he was a murderer, it might affect her future happiness. "I don't want my actions to involve my daughter and other relatives. I just want to take responsibility alone. It's a good thing the police caught me; I no longer have to live in constant fear," Li Mou deeply regrets his impulsive actions.
[Dialogue] At the Time, Just Couldn't Think Straight
Reporter: Why did you stab Liu Mou to death?
Li Mou: He always bullied me. Initially, when I said I would kill him, it was a threat, not intending to actually kill him. Up until the night of the incident before drinking alcohol, I hadn't made up my mind to kill him. During the drinking session, I called Liu Mou, and he said he would wait for me at the north gate, challenging me. When I saw him at the north gate, still so arrogant, I stabbed him multiple times.
Reporter: Would you not have killed him if you hadn't drunk alcohol?
Li Mou: Drinking alcohol made me too impulsive, feeling I couldn't swallow this humiliation. If I hadn't drunk alcohol, I might not have done it.
Reporter: Do you regret it now?
Li Mou: For the crimes I committed, causing such great harm to the deceased and his family, I deeply regret it. I shouldn't have acted impulsively. Thinking about it now, I don't have any deep grudges against him. He was just a 20-something kid, almost the same age as my daughter. At the time, I just couldn't think straight, feeling I couldn't get past this mental barrier.
