How much does it cost to treat genital warts? In fact, what patients should first confirm is not the cost, but whether it is really genital warts or pseudo-genital warts! Only after confirming this should one consider what therapy to use and how much it will cost. Today, let's discuss how to diagnose genital warts and how to differentiate the diagnosis:
I. Diagnosis
1. History of unsafe sexual intercourse.
2. Typical skin lesions appear as papules in moist areas such as the genitals or anal region, with a cauliflower-like, rooster comb-like, or papillary fleshy growth, rough surface, and keratosis.
3. Positive acetic acid white test, histopathological sections show dyskeratosis and vacuolated cells.
4. Nucleic acid hybridization can detect HPV-DNA-related sequences, and PCR testing can reveal specific HPV-DNA amplification bands.
II. Differential Diagnosis
1. Genital squamous cell carcinoma; more common in people over 40 years old or elderly, the lesion infiltrates downward, forming ulcers, with characteristic changes in tissue pathology. Wang Zhimin, Department of Anorectal Surgery, Qianfo Mountain Hospital, Shandong Province.
2. Flat condyloma: multiple moist papules fused into patchy lesions, commonly seen around the anus, Treponema pallidum can be detected at the lesion site, and serological tests for syphilis are positive.
3. Pearly penile papules: arranged along the coronal sulcus, pinhead or millet-sized skin-colored or pale pink papules on male genital warts, no vacuolated cells in the tissue pathology.
4. Pseudocondyloma: lesions are limited to small labia, with fish egg-like pale red small papules or velvety changes, smooth lesion surface, negative acetic acid white test, no diagnostic significant vacuolated cells in the pathology, herpes zoster.
5. Bowenoid papulosis: brownish-red or pigmented small papules, histopathology shows atypical squamous cells and carcinoma in situ-like tissue images.
Please note that accurate diagnosis and treatment should always be done under the guidance of a professional medical practitioner.
