Our reporter Wang Cong learned this morning that the Chaoyang police had solved a series of fraud cases where the scammer claimed he could help children enroll in kindergarten. More than 10 victims were all parents of children eligible for kindergarten enrollment. The involved amount exceeded 30,000 yuan.

In April this year, Ms. Li wanted to register her child for kindergarten. However, after consulting with multiple kindergartens, she was informed that all spots were already filled. During this process, Ms. Li met Zhao, a security guard at one of the kindergartens.

Knowing that Ms. Li was worried about her child's enrollment, Zhao quietly pulled her aside and said that he was very close with the principal and could help think of a solution.

Upon hearing this news, Ms. Li was delighted. A few days later, Zhao asked Ms. Li for 8,000 yuan under the pretext of treating the principal to dinner. Facing such a large sum of money, Ms. Li hesitated for a moment but then reassured herself since Zhao worked at the kindergarten and handed over the money.

More than two months passed, and while other children were preparing to enter kindergarten, Ms. Li had still not received any good news from Zhao. She began to urge Zhao, but each time he made various excuses and eventually turned off his phone, disappearing without a trace.

At the end of October, when Ms. Li went to the kindergarten to inquire about enrollment, she was told by the kindergarten that admission must be processed according to normal procedures, and it was impossible to arrange enrollment through backdoor connections.

After realizing she had been scammed, Ms. Li immediately reported the case to the Chaoyang police. Subsequently, the Yanshan Village Police Station received reports from several other parents whose experiences matched Ms. Li’s.

After verification by the police and the kindergarten, the kindergarten management confirmed they had not accepted any bribes from Zhao, and all admissions were processed according to regular procedures without any backdoor arrangements.

● Police Action

Police officers from the Yanshan Village Police Station arrested Zhao at the kindergarten and took him back to the station for questioning. After interrogation, the suspect Zhao confessed to the crime of defrauding the victims under the pretense of arranging kindergarten enrollment.

According to Zhao's confession, four years ago, after being laid off, he applied for a security job here. Due to his outgoing personality, he quickly became familiar with some parents. Learning from the parents that many wanted to enroll their children in ideal kindergartens, Zhao became greedy and lied, claiming he could handle the enrollment procedures on behalf of the parents, thereby scamming more than 10 victims.

Currently, Zhao has been criminally detained by the Chaoyang police on suspicion of fraud.
