Sina Technology News, February 6 - After the recruitment of general managers at provincial companies was concluded before the end of last year, China Unicom's (Weibo) recent recruitment for deputy general managers at provincial companies has also come to an end. More than ten people were ultimately selected, including three division-level cadres from China Unicom's headquarters and some department heads and city branch company directors from provincial companies. Currently, the appointment documents have not been issued yet, but some of the successful candidates have already taken up their new positions.
The recruitment for both general managers and deputy general managers of provincial companies by China Unicom initially took place simultaneously, but the results were announced at different times.
Previously, at the end of October last year, China Unicom initiated a public recruitment process for provincial company leaders, which included both principal and deputy roles. Only for the position of deputy general manager of provincial companies, there were over 210 applicants, divided into two categories: one responsible for marketing and the other for network construction. Over 150 people applied for the marketing role, while around 60 applied for the network construction role.
In early November last year, the first round of exams was a written test, with 60 people passing it and subsequently participating in the second round of interviews. However, the results were not announced afterward.
By the end of last year, just before China Unicom held its 2012 annual work conference, the recruitment for the principal roles at provincial companies was completed and the results were announced. Meanwhile, just before the Spring Festival, the recruitment for deputy general managers at provincial companies was largely finalized, and some successful candidates received final notifications.
It is understood that after this competitive recruitment, several provincial companies of China Unicom will add one more deputy general manager, including Shanghai Unicom, Guangdong Unicom, Guizhou Unicom, Liaoning Unicom, etc. A few provincial companies will even add two deputy general managers, such as Yunnan Unicom.
The successful candidates come from diverse backgrounds, including division chiefs from China Unicom's headquarters, department heads from provincial companies, and general managers from city branch companies. For example, three division chiefs from China Unicom's headquarters were successfully recruited.
However, currently, some of these successful candidates have already taken office, but formal appointment documents have not yet been issued. This is merely a matter of time because historically, following the procedures, the issuance of formal documents tends to be delayed for a period. (Kang Zhao)
