"Zhuo Zai, I've survived, I've won!" These words still ring in our ears. Yesterday evening, Zhuo Shengli, the veteran artist who suffered from hypopharyngeal cancer and gastric cardia tumor, finally succumbed to the disease in his sleep at the age of 62. His funeral hall is set up at No. 143, Section 3, Jianguo North Road, Taipei City. The date for the farewell ceremony has yet to be determined. Cai Zhenan, who collaborated with Zhuo Shengli on their last work "Hero of the Countryside", expressed deep sigh upon hearing the news: "Taiwan has lost another star." Cai Zhenan said that during the filming, Zhuo Zai ran around tirelessly between Jiufen and Miaoli, never complaining about being tired. Moreover, even though it was winter and he had to dress according to the script, everyone was worried about his weak immune system leading to a cold. Cai Zhenan added that not only did Zhuo Zai not complain, but he also maintained his comedic humor, making jokes with everyone, adding value to the drama. Brother Nan said, "It was my honor to collaborate with 'Chaplin of Taiwan' on this last play."

Recently, Bai Bingbing lamented over the many losses in the entertainment circle, urging artist friends to maintain regular schedules and take good care of their bodies. With tears in her eyes, Bai Bingbing recalled that half a year ago, when she met Zhuo Shengli, he was enthusiastically showing her pictures of his granddaughter.

Tianwa, a close friend and fellow artist of Zhuo Shengli, with red-rimmed eyes, said that they had just finished collaborating on "Stars Know My Heart". Last year, Zhuo Zai appeared on her show "Laughing Every Day", laughing and joking with everyone. Now he's gone suddenly, reminding all of us that we should live in the present.

In 2006, Zhuo Shengli was diagnosed with hypopharyngeal cancer. During treatment, his hair and eyebrows fell out completely, and his throat became severely damaged. He joked that he looked like ET to everyone. After fighting against cancer, he proudly declared in Bai Bingbing’s "Five Elements of Ice and Fire" that out of six people undergoing the same treatment in the hospital, four had already passed away.

After recovering from a major illness, Zhuo Shengli's biggest realization was that life shouldn't be overly planned. But just as he emerged from the shadow of hypopharyngeal cancer, at the end of 2011, he discovered a gastric cardia tumor, resulting in the complete removal of his stomach and a sudden weight loss of 20 kilograms.

Despite contracting cancer again, Zhuo Shengli continued his passion for acting. In the TVS drama "Hero of the Countryside," his role was specifically tailored for him. He played a cancer-stricken entrepreneur who arrived in a small town in the drama after giving up on treatment. Encouraged by the characters in the drama, he regained confidence and accepted treatment again. This plot mirrored his real-life experience.

He revealed that during his first bout with cancer, when the doctor announced that his esophagus and throat would have to be removed, and food would need to be administered through a hole dug into his abdomen, and he would need to relearn how to speak, he initially thought about giving up on life.

Fortunately, with the comfort and advice of friends, he realized that even if not for himself, he must live on for his family. Therefore, despite only a 40% chance of recovery, he decided to undergo chemotherapy.

Zhuo Shengli admitted that the cobalt-60 radiation therapy made him feel worse than death. Being placed inside an instrument resembling a spaceship, feeling like a dead man awaiting judgment, not knowing whether he was alive or dead, he always thought he was no longer in this world. After surviving, he once again filled with confidence for life.

In 1983, Zhuo Shengli gained instant fame due to his performance in the famous TV series "Stars Know My Heart" on TVS. Subsequently, he starred in numerous films and TV dramas, expanding into the hosting industry, and even hosted the long-running variety show "Everyday Happiness". In 1990, he received a nomination for Best Actor at the 27th Golden Horse Awards for his role in the movie "Knife Plague". In 1999, in the long-running local drama "Relatives Don't Plan" on Minsheng Television, with his signature comedic acting, he touched the hearts of audiences, continuing his role for eight years until the show ended in 2006.

When he was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in 2011, Zhuo Shengli originally thought the cardia tumor was a metastasis from hypopharyngeal cancer. However, the doctor explained that these two cancers were "individuals". He maintained his humorous demeanor, joking that both cancers had been "nationally certified"; saying, "I haven't left, I consider them as good friends, living in peace."

Even so, although Zhuo Shengli didn't ultimately win, his courage and determination in fighting cancer left a deep impression on his relatives and friends, evoking endless remembrance for him.
