For foreigners in Beijing, the word "Where to?" is either understood literally or interpreted as just another way taxi drivers say "hello." But for Fritz Demopoulos, the 37-year-old American founder of Qunar.com, a Beijing-inflected travel search engine, the phrase meaning "where are you going?" has far greater significance than the perfunctory query posed by Chinese cab drivers. Since his first trip to China in 1997, he's come a long way in the country's media, Internet and wireless sectors. Yet it was quite a twist of fate that brought him to China in the first place.
