As the news spread, a crowd gathered outside the hair salon. They saw a hair washer lying in a pool of blood, her intestines protruding.
In regard to this case, the court ruled that Li's actions constituted intentional homicide, with deep-rooted criminal malice, extremely heinous circumstances, and particularly severe consequences, posing great personal and social hazards. According to the law, he must be severely punished. Accordingly, the Intermediate People's Court of Qingdao City recently made a ruling: Li was sentenced to death for intentional homicide, with his political rights deprived for life. Furthermore, the court ruled that Li should compensate the family of the deceased Xiao Jiang with over 220,000 yuan and compensate Han with over 9,000 yuan.
Li's confession had some discrepancies with what Han said. Li stated, "I came to work in Tongji Street last August. At that time, Han called me to the hair salon for prostitution, but I didn't have money then." The boss then introduced him to work on a nearby moving team.
On September 30, 2010 at noon, Old Jiang, the owner of a small store in Tongji Street, was resting with his wife in the store when suddenly Han, the owner of the nearby hair salon, rushed into the store and slammed the door shut. Old Jiang looked up and saw that Han had many bloodstains and was still bleeding.
As one of the parties involved, the hair salon owner Han said, "That day, Xiao Jiang and I were chatting idly in the store when Li ran into the store and demanded to have sexual relations with Xiao Jiang."
For this, Xiao Jiang did not agree. However, Li persisted, even touching her inappropriately, claiming she was a prostitute.
Therefore, Li went to a nearby supermarket and bought a fruit knife, intending to go back and argue with the hair salon owner. "This time, they chased me out again. I was very angry and thought about stabbing them," Li said. After drinking alcohol, he became very impulsive, stabbed Xiao Jiang to death, and then chased after Han until the police arrived and arrested him.
It is difficult to verify exactly what happened at the time. However, it is certain that Li killed the hair washer. During the trial, facing the charge of intentional homicide by the prosecution, Li had no objections. His lawyer only argued that the two victims also had faults in the case, requesting leniency from the court. After reviewing the case, the court found that Li had an argument with Han and Xiao Jiang over prostitution issues, which led to his violent act, causing Xiao Jiang to die on the spot.
The murderer was Li, originally from Heze, around 40 years old, working as a mover in a nearby moving team. The owner of a nearby restaurant said that Li had consumed a lot of alcohol in his shop before committing the crime. Why would a migrant worker brutally kill a hair washer? The police subsequently determined that Li had an argument with Han and Xiao Jiang over trivial matters in the hair salon, leading to murderous intentions. Subsequently, Li went to a nearby supermarket and bought a fruit knife, killing Xiao Jiang and injuring Han.
A forensic examination confirmed that Xiao Jiang died from massive bleeding due to the rupture of the abdominal aorta, inferior vena cava, and spleen caused by a sharp weapon piercing her left ribcage; Han's injuries were also classified as serious. After being apprehended, Li confessed to his crimes without reservation. The police did not provide a specific explanation for the argument between the two sides, only stating that it was due to trivial matters. Rumors suggested that the conflict arose over prostitution.
"He said this, and we were very angry. Seeing that he was drunk, we drove him out," Han said during police questioning. Who knew that about ten minutes after they chased Li away, Xiao Jiang returned, cursing and stabbing towards Xiao Jiang in the massage room. "I immediately tried to stop him, but unexpectedly, he stabbed me in the stomach."
After being stabbed, Han quickly fled to the convenience store and locked the door. She said, "Until I was taken away by the ambulance, I didn't know that Xiao Jiang had already passed away. I heard the news later."
Li was originally an ordinary farmer from Heze. However, with the recent first-instance verdict handed down by the Intermediate People's Court of Qingdao City, he now faces the coldest possible word - death penalty. The reason is that he killed a hair washer and injured the hair salon owner last autumn. In response to why Li committed such a crime, the hair salon owner said it was because Li wanted to engage in prostitution, but they refused. Li claimed that he paid for prostitution services but later regretted it, wanting to get back the 50 yuan he had paid but was refused. Coupled with his post-drinking impulsiveness, he bought a fruit knife and committed the crime.
