The two were classmates, one was 10 years old and the other was 11.

Reporters saw at the scene that this sand field is located at the edge of the Tangpo Village resettlement house. There was no obvious factory name or sign, the area is about 3 to 4 acres, with seven or eight sand piles scattered around the sand field. The bodies of the two students were placed on a vacant lot in the sand field, as family members surrounded the bodies of the children, crying in grief.

The police reminded all students not to play at construction sites, ponds, and rivers during holidays to avoid unnecessary dangers. They also hope that teachers and parents strengthen safety education for students, improve students' self-safety awareness, and eliminate similar tragedies from the source.

Family members of the children gathered around the bodies of their children, grieving deeply.

According to a villager of Tangpo Village at the scene who told reporters, an elderly woman neighbor in her 60s witnessed the incident. At the time, the old lady was doing something on her balcony when she saw the two students playing behind a sand pile in the sand field. When the two were having fun, a large bulldozer suddenly appeared next to the sand pile where the children were playing and began shoveling sand. The sand on the sand pile instantly moved towards where the children were playing and quickly slid down from the top of the sand pile, burying the two children in the sand.

The reporter then learned about the situation from the Xialin Police Station of Chengxiang District Public Security Bureau, which handled the case. A police officer told reporters that these two children both attended Tangpo Primary School and were classmates. The older one surnamed Li, is 11 years old and is from Funan, Anhui, whose parents both work in Putian; the younger one surnamed Guo, is 10 years old and is from Xiaocun Village, Chengxiang District, Putian. After the accident occurred, the police immediately rushed to the scene to understand the situation and subsequently controlled the bulldozer driver Liu Moumou. The case is currently under further investigation.

This villager said that upon seeing this situation, the old lady hurriedly ran to the sand field to inform the staff that the children had been buried. The staff immediately used tools including the bulldozer for rescue. About ten minutes later, they dug the children out of the sand, but by then both had no signs of life. The medical personnel of the 120 emergency services who arrived shortly after failed to save the lives of the two children.

It was heartbreaking to see the children being buried, so the old lady ran to seek help.
