With the income cap situation not ideal for the Arizona Cardinals, there is speculation that they might cut their listed back, Edgerrin James. Harry has a relatively low cap number of $6.75 million for the 08 season. They would definitely save $5 million on his salary if they release him.

Cardinals General Manager Rod Graves has been mentioned as saying, "We'll really have to see how the landscape develops as we try to get these documents approved. I think much depends on Jumpy Fitzgerald's choice, whether we can go forward in a way that gives us some flexibility. Or, we could be faced with some very tough decisions soon."

"We haven't talked candidly about where those tough choices might be. Children, if this deal isn't restructured, it will leave us having to make some difficult moves."

James' agent, Carl Rosenhaus, was unavailable for comment.

The Cardinals are certainly working to re-sign linebacker Calvin Pace, who is coming off his best season while stepping in for the injured Chike Okeafor. Pace becomes an unrestricted free agent if no deal is reached by February 29. The Cardinals are also expected to make strong offers to prominent free agents like cornerback Eric Green and defensive lineman Antonio Smith.
