According to the British media reports on July 30, the policemen in Louisiana, America intercepted a pick-up truck. The car was driven by an 8-year-old boy at that time while his father fell fast asleep.
The incident happened when the pick-up truck was driving along the No.12 Interstate Freeway in Louisiana towards Dallas in Texas. A driver passing by found that the truck drove unsteadily and immediately called the police.
After receiving the news, the policemen in Louisiana asked the pick-up truck to pull over. To their astonishment, they found that there was an 8-year-old boy sitting in the driver's seat. The boy's father, 28-year-old owner of the car Billy Joe Madden, was sleeping soundly in the co-driver's seat and Madden's 4-year-old daughter was also sitting on the backseat.
Subsequently, the police questioned Madden and determined that he was drunk, so they arrested him and charged him with abandoning children, allowing minors to drive, neglecting discipline of children and not buckling up the seat belt and other charges. Madden is still in the detention center now and the bail amount is 1474 US dollars. Madden's two children have been handed over to the Child Welfare Department and are waiting for their family members to take them home.
