China News Service, Hengshui, October 18 (reported by Cui Zhiping) - More than a month ago, at the intersection of Renmin Road and Zhongxin Street in Hengshui City, Hebei Province, a traffic accident occurred and the hit-and-run driver fled the scene. Liu Xiaoming's uncle and grandfather, who were struggling to raise funds for medical treatment, both committed suicide on the 13th. According to Li Yufang, Liu Xiaoming's aunt, the father of the perpetrator has turned himself in on behalf of his son.

At around 4:30 PM on the 18th, this reporter arrived at Liu Xiaoming's home in Julu Village, Heyan Town, Taocheng District, Hengshui City. On-site, flower wreaths were placed in the courtyard, and the portraits of Liu Xiaoming's deceased uncle and grandfather were placed in the shrine. Many neighbors were present to help out.

Inside the house, Liu Xiaoming was still lying in bed. He recalled that at around 8 PM on the evening of September 1st, he was riding his motorcycle westward along Renmin Road in Hengshui City. Just after passing the intersection of Renmin Road and Zhongxin Street, a Beidouxing car traveling eastward suddenly made a sharp left turn, knocking him off his motorcycle and causing him to fall to the ground with his bike.

Liu Xiaoming said that the car didn't stop but drove away. He was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. A friend who was with him noticed that the license plate of the offending vehicle was Jit370XX. The accident police learned that Jit370XX belonged to a scrapped Xiaoli car, while the Beidouxing car that hit him was using a counterfeit license plate.

Li Yufang told the reporter that when Xiaoming was just over a week old, his mother left home. He was raised by his grandfather Liu Suoyin, his unmarried uncle Liu Zhanhang, and his father. This injury dealt a heavy blow to the family. Surgery would cost 30,000 yuan, and the not-so-wealthy family managed to gather and borrow more than 10,000 yuan for medical expenses before they had no more money to treat Xiaoming. On October 14th, Xiaoming's father returned home only to find that his grandfather and uncle had passed away. After investigation by the police, it was determined that both deaths were suicides, and Xiaoming's uncle had left a suicide note.

Li Yufang stated that the loss of two lives awakened the conscience of the offender. On the 15th, the investigating officers from the Hengshui Accident Bureau informed them that the father of the person responsible for hitting the child had already surrendered to the public security authorities.
