On the day of the incident, the police conducted an on-site investigation.
At around 7 a.m. on November 11, inside apartment 403 of building 7 in Tongling Xincun, the nanny unexpectedly discovered that the female employer and her 3-year-old son had tragically died at home. The nanny immediately reported it to the police. Yesterday, there was a new breakthrough in the case, as the police announced and offered a reward for information leading to the suspect Kong Deming.
What kind of person is the suspect Kong Deming? Why did he brutally kill a mother and her child? At around 9 p.m. last night, I exclusively interviewed the deceased's husband, revealing little-known details of the case.
"Even on my way back, I guessed it was him."
After much effort, I learned that after arriving from Huaibei Suixi to Hefei, the deceased's husband Ding Shanming had been continuously questioned and investigated by the criminal investigation team. Finally, last night, I met the extremely exhausted Ding Shanming at an exceptionally simple small inn on Tongling Road. "In the first few days after moving in, he would cry every day in the hotel, until his voice became hoarse," an informed person told the reporter.
According to Ding Shanming's recollection, at 11:03 a.m. on the 11th, he received a call from the Hefei police. "After receiving the call, I knew something major had happened at home. My first reaction was that the balcony at home wasn't enclosed, so perhaps the child had accidentally fallen. Later, I called the nanny and repeatedly asked her, and she said 'the child and the adult are both gone.' Hearing those words, I was instantly dazed."
Ding Shanming said that during the taxi ride back to Hefei, he kept questioning and pondering who could be so cruel as to destroy his family? Suddenly, a friend he knew best lingered in his mind.
"It's him, definitely him. During my absence, he often went to my house to borrow money from my wife. Each time, she refused him, which might have led to his hatred." Ding Shanming stated, "After the incident at home, all my friends called me to offer condolences, except for him. His phone also couldn't be reached." Ding Shanming then voluntarily proposed to the police that his friend Kong Deming was a major suspect. Indeed, several days later, the nationwide arrest warrant issued confirmed his guess.
The suspect and the deceased's husband are childhood friends from the same hometown.
That evening, I contacted Ding Shanming's brother Ding Sanhuai, who told me that upon hearing the name Kong Deming, it initially seemed unfamiliar, but after seeing the photo on the arrest warrant, there was a loud thud in his mind, "How could it be him?" Originally, the suspect Kong Deming had another name, Kong Degang (phonetic), and even his closest family and friends didn't know this alias, so "Dagang" became the name used to call him. Kong Deming and the deceased's husband Ding Shanming were from the same hometown; both were from Xianlin Village in Cuozhen Town in Feidong County. Kong Deming's home was only four or five li away from Ding Shanming's old home. When they were young, the two had played together, and before settling down, Kong Deming would frequently visit Ding Shanming's house.
When they were young, Kong Deming and Ding Shanming left the countryside with their luggage together to work outside. After each established their own families, because they were both engaged in the construction industry, their friendship continued.
It was reported that on the night of the incident, police cars drove to Kong Deming's old home, but he was not found.
Short on cash, the suspect visited three times to borrow money.
Ding Shanming told reporters that in the month before the incident, he had received three calls from his wife, all related to Kong Deming. The first time, his wife, along with the nanny and the child, were having lunch at home when Kong Deming knocked on the door and asked if "Ding Shanming was at home." His wife replied that her husband was not at home, but she warmly invited Kong Deming to come in and sit for a while, yet he quickly left.
"The second visit occurred one afternoon when Kong Deming sat in the hallway waiting. When my wife returned home, he asked to borrow a few hundred yuan, but was rejected," Ding Shanming said.
"The last visit occurred a few days before the incident. After knocking on the door and learning from the nanny that his wife had not yet returned from work, he left." It was understood that after Kong's three visits, his wife would call her husband to "complain" every night. At the time, Ding Shanming told his wife, "If he comes again, tell Kong Deming to contact me directly."
According to Ding Shanming's speculation, Kong's three visits may have been related to borrowing money, as Kong had previously mentioned being short on cash. Moreover, on the night of the incident, Kong had apparently consumed a considerable amount of alcohol.
After brutally killing the mother and child, the suspect stole less than 2000 yuan worth of property.
According to Ding Shanming's estimation, on the evening of November 10, Kong Deming once again came to his home and brutally killed the female owner and her 3-year-old son. Later, after police investigation, it was determined that the female owner was stabbed with a sharp weapon, and the blanket covering her may have also contributed to her death by suffocation.
After detailed inspection by the police, there were no obvious signs of disturbance at the scene. However, the red work uniform worn daily by the female owner had disappeared, along with all the money in the drawers. Afterwards, Ding Shanming estimated that his wife usually took off her work uniform after entering the house after work and hung it on the coat rack by the door, with some loose change in its pocket. But according to the usual consumption and savings status of the mother and child, the stolen property amounted to less than 2000 yuan.
Ding Shanming repeatedly requested to enter the room to check. When he saw the bloodstains on the bed and the shaking baby crib, thinking of his loved ones, he could no longer contain his sorrow and broke into heart-wrenching sobs.
The suspect was once the matchmaker for the deceased.
Ding Shanming told reporters that Kong Deming was generally honest, but prone to emotional outbursts. He usually idled around, lazy and unproductive, "After dropping out of school, he worked with others outside, then his cousin introduced him to a geological exploration team in Hefei, but he was laid off after working for a short time. Since then, he has been wandering around without a fixed residence." He couldn't hold onto money and almost drank every day.
"He got married for the first time in 2001, his wife was from an ancient town. Not long after marriage, they had a little girl, but good times didn't last long, and when the child was six months old, his wife left him with the child."
On May 1, 2006, Kong Deming married his second wife. Ding Shanming said that this wife was six or seven years older than him, and they didn't have children. Because he idled around all day, eventually, his wife sued for divorce in court.
There is a little-known detail in this case: Ding Shanming met his wife on the seventh day of the first lunar month in 2006. That morning, Kong Deming called Ding Shanming early, excitedly saying that he wanted to introduce him to a girlfriend. That evening, under Kong Deming's leadership, Ding Shanming met his wife for the first time.
Before her death, the victim once advised the suspect not to waste his life.
After their first meeting, both parties left a good impression on each other. In 2007, Ding Shanming and his wife entered the matrimonial hall. In December 2008, their son was born. To support this family and earn more money, on September 22 of this year, Ding Shanming chose to work away from home again, rarely able to take care of the family. For this, his wife did not complain too much.
During Ding Shanming's time working away from home, he would unfailingly call his wife twice a day, once after work and once before sleeping, "When the child calls 'dad,' it sounds better than any music, and it's especially clear. Now, I really want to hug my child again!" Ding Shanming choked up. However, coincidentally on the night of the incident, Ding Shanming's mobile phone failed to connect due to insufficient balance, and a few hours later, the family was separated by life and death.
"Remember in April this year, Kong Deming still came to my house for dinner. During the meal, I learned that he had divorced again. My wife even consoled him, telling him to let things go and not to live like this anymore. At the time, I also consoled him, saying if he had any difficulties at work, I would be willing to help him again," Ding Shanming said, "I didn't expect him to... now."
Finally, Ding Shanming also told reporters that he would stay in Hefei until the suspect was captured and brought to justice. Then, he would personally confront his once "best" friend and ask him face-to-face why he did this, and not let his wife and child die so unjustly.
