Not long ago, the sixth detachment of Hohhot Public Security Bureau Criminal Investigation Detachment disclosed a robbery case to the media. All 8 suspects involved in the case were minors. After being caught by the police, some suspects actually claimed that they did not know that what they did was illegal.

Cooperative Robbery

Reporters learned from the sixth detachment of Hohhot Public Security Bureau Criminal Investigation Detachment that on the afternoon of July 14, the police received an emergency call from a parent. On the afternoon of July 13, in a residential area on Qingquan Street in Yuchuan District of Hohhot, his child and three other playmates were surrounded by several minors, who robbed them of one mobile phone, two bicycles, and 60 yuan in cash.

According to the information provided by the person reporting the incident, the police deduced that the group of perpetrators would not have gone too far. They immediately arrived at the scene of the crime. After interviewing the four students who were robbed, the police learned that one of the robbed children was a primary school classmate with one of the suspects. Through this clue, the police visited the school, homeroom teacher, and parents, eventually finding one of the perpetrators. Following up on this lead, the police arrested all 8 suspects by the afternoon of July 15.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that all 8 suspects were minors, with 4 of them not yet 14 years old. Reporters learned that these people committed the crime without a clear purpose, just following along under the instigation of a few individuals. However, they failed to realize that their actions would be subject to legal punishment. On July 16, 4 minors were legally criminally detained, while the other 4 minors under 14 years old were taken home for education after their parents wrote guarantee letters.

Psychological Expert:

Guidance on Children's Psychology is Very Important

On July 21, regarding psychological issues among young people, Wei Gang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Inner Mongolia Psychological Consultant Association and Chief Psychological Consultant of the 12355 Hohhot Youth Service Platform, said: "Children in their teens are in the most sensitive period. Besides guidance in daily life, guidance on children's psychology is also very important."

Wei Gang said that teenagers in their teens are in their adolescence, troubled by growth anxiety. They feel restless when they have nothing to do, lack direction, and are easily influenced by emotions. Sometimes the decisions they make are done unconsciously. If schools are on holiday, children suddenly detach themselves from the large school environment. Without classmates and teachers around, they are prone to 'holiday syndrome.' In such situations, if influenced by negative factors and without proper guidance, they may unintentionally make wrong choices.

So how should we guide children? Wei Gang said: "During holidays, parents should arrange for their children to do meaningful things and must not let them run wild. Parents should communicate with their children frequently, ideally giving instructions in the morning and communicating in the evening. Parents should also guide their children more in terms of thought and behavioral choices, letting them know what they are doing and how they can grow into people who bring happiness to others."

Police Reminder: Strengthen Legal Education

Reporters learned during interviews at Hohhot Public Security Bureau that many children only have strong curiosity and do not realize that their actions have already violated the law. "Some children brought back to the Public Security Bureau for investigation still had smiles on their faces. They did not know that what they did was illegal, nor did they know that illegal actions would result in legal punishment," said the investigating officer of the Hohhot Public Security Bureau Criminal Investigation Detachment.

During the summer vacation, since many parents are busy with work and unable to take care of their children, they neglect educating their children. Instructor Luan of the Sixth Detachment of the Hohhot Public Security Bureau Criminal Investigation Detachment reminded all parents: "During the summer vacation, when children go out to play, parents must remind them where they should go and where they shouldn't. Understand who your children are associating with, strengthen legal education, tell them what kinds of behavior are illegal, and prevent them from going astray."
