Our reporter Han Dapeng: At 8 p.m. last night, near the east gate of Longxi Phase II residential area in Huilongguan, Changping District, a female driver mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, knocking down two pedestrians and a customer eating by the roadside. She also collided with a utility pole and two vehicles. Fortunately, none of the injured were in danger of losing their lives.

Eyewitnesses said that at the time of the incident, a Nissan sedan drove out of the east gate of the community and was supposed to stop first before making a right turn. However, unexpectedly, the car suddenly surged forward, hitting two men and a male customer eating lamb skewers by the roadside. Afterwards, the car surged forward again, colliding with a utility pole and a parked Jetta car and an electric bicycle, before finally stopping. The female driver climbed out of the car window and called the police herself. Subsequently, the ambulance arrived and sent the three injured people to a nearby hospital for treatment.

At 10 p.m. last night, our reporter observed at the scene that the electric bicycle was still crushed under the Nissan car, the rear-right part of the Jetta car was smashed flat, and a "Yield" sign at the entrance of the community had been completely uprooted. The female driver responsible for the accident stated that at the time of the incident, she mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the accident. After testing, it was confirmed that the female driver had not consumed alcohol. She was subsequently taken away by traffic police for further investigation.

The incident caused congestion at the community entrance for a long period. At 11 p.m. last night, the offending vehicle was towed away by a rescue truck, restoring smooth traffic flow to the scene. On-site emergency personnel reported that among the three injured individuals, two suffered from leg fractures, and all three had multiple abrasions, but fortunately, none were in life-threatening conditions.
