During the day, they worked as security guards at a heating company in the eastern suburbs; at night, they drove a rented car and robbed lone women. Yesterday, the Baoqiao police reported that this robbery gang had been dismantled, and all three suspects were criminally detained.
The girl bit the knife-wielding robber
At around 10:40 PM on December 27, 2010, the Balin Police Station of the Baoqiao Public Security Bureau received an emergency call reporting that a girl had been robbed with a knife at the entrance of Majiawan Village in their jurisdiction. The police immediately arrived at the scene and saw a large patch of blood left there. The victim had already been sent to the hospital for treatment.
At the hospital, the police learned that at around 10 PM that evening, the victim, Wang Na (a pseudonym), was attacked by a man who suddenly put his arm around her neck after she finished work and was walking to the entrance of Majiawan Village. In desperation, Wang Na bit the man's left thumb. During the struggle, Wang Na’s face and neck were slashed multiple times by the assailant's knife, and her handbag containing 500 yuan in cash and other items was stolen. As the criminal fled, his left thumb was bitten by Wang Na.
The injured robber exposed himself while seeking medical attention
After the case occurred, the Baoqiao police immediately formed a special investigation team. After conducting extensive inquiries at nearby clinics and hospitals, on January 3, when investigating at Tangdu Second Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University, the police learned that a man had sought treatment for a hand injury on the night of the incident. It was evident that the man's left thumb had been bitten by someone else. However, the name he left at the hospital was a fake one, making it impossible to track him down.
On January 12, when the officers were visiting the Hongqing Health Center in Baoqiao District, they learned from a doctor that a few days ago, a man with a left thumb injury had come to the health center to vaccinate a child. Upon investigation, the man was identified as Liu Mou, 27 years old, residing in Zhaoxi Village, Hongqing Subdistrict Office, Baoqiao District.
The captured man confessed two accomplices
During the investigation of Liu Mou, the police found out that Liu Mou was often not at home and frequently hung out with some idle people in society. Even his wife didn't know his whereabouts.
On the morning of February 13, a doctor from Tangdu Second Hospital called the police, saying that Liu Mou had visited the hospital again due to a traffic accident, and this time, he used his real name, which was 'Liu'. When the police arrived at the hospital, Liu Mou had already left. Based on this clue, on the same day, the special investigation team immediately went to Liu Mou's home and arrested him, confiscating a mobile phone that Liu Mou had robbed from Wang Na. After interrogation, Liu Mou confessed to committing crimes together with Jiang Mou, 25 years old from Binhai County, Xianyang, and Duan Mou, 21 years old from Fuping County, Weinan, driving and robbing with knives.
Driving a rented car and robbing with knives
On February 14, the police caught Jiang Mou and Duan Mou, who were working at a heating company in the eastern suburbs. Upon investigation, Jiang Mou was the deputy captain of the security team at the heating company, and Duan Mou was a security guard. They worked as security guards during the day and drove a rented car with Liu Mou at night, committing armed robberies. Each time they targeted lone women walking on the roadside. Since October last year, the three had committed more than ten crimes in Baoqiao, Yanta, Weiyang, and Lianhu districts, raping two of the victims.
"Never would I have thought that these robbers would be caught so quickly." Yesterday, the victim Wang Na told reporters, "I'm still very scared thinking about it now, but luckily, the police caught these robbers."
