According to reports (intern reporter Liang Shuang, correspondent Cheng Yanqin), a young woman Liu Minli (a pseudonym) demanded 350 yuan in outstanding debt from her friend. Her friend suggested robbing a taxi driver to pay off the debt. Not only did the young woman not stop them, she even went along for "fun". Yesterday, Liu Minli was sentenced to 2 years and 4 months in prison by the Jianghan District Court for robbery.
On the evening of February 21 this year, Liu Minli from Dongxihu met up with her elementary school classmate Li Wen (a pseudonym) and her boyfriend Wang Qing (a pseudonym), demanding they repay the 350 yuan borrowed earlier. However, Li Wen said she had no money unless they robbed someone to get it. Impulsively, Liu Minli decided to join them.
At around 4 o'clock in the morning, the three flagged down a taxi at the Wuzhi intersection of the 107 National Highway in Dongxihu. After getting into the car, Liu Minli pretended to be drunk and sat in the back seat. Shortly after the car started moving, Wang Qing and Li Wen suddenly pulled out knives and began robbing the driver Zhao, obtaining 500 yuan in cash and a mobile phone worth 150 yuan. During the robbery, Wang Qing stabbed Zhao.
On the day of the incident, all three were arrested. The court ruled that all three were guilty of robbery. In the joint crime, Liu Minli played a secondary role and was considered an accomplice, sentencing her to 2 years and 4 months in prison; Wang Qing, being under 18 years old, received a lighter sentence of 3 years and 8 months in prison; Li Wen was sentenced to 7 years and 3 months in prison. Additionally, all three were fined separately.
