Our school's students achieved excellent results in the Zhejiang Province competition of the National College Student English Contest
Recently, the final of the 2011 National College Student English Contest in Zhejiang Province was concluded at Zhejiang Industry University. A total of 9 students from our school won awards. Among them, Chen Jiangping, dispatched from the Xiasha Campus, won the Special Prize of Category C; Zhang Xiang, Hu Qihui, Yang Fan, Zhong Yizhuo, and Chu Shan'er won the First Prize of Category C; Duan Yan won the First Prize of Category D; Zhou Na and Chen Ruixin, two contestants dispatched by the Science and Art College, won the First Prizes of Categories B and C respectively.
The National College Student English Contest is approved by relevant departments of the Ministry of Education and jointly organized by the Higher Education University Foreign Language Teaching Steering Committee and the Higher Education University Foreign Language Teaching Research Association, with the English Tutor Newspaper as the organizer. It is the only national contest for comprehensive English skills for college students. The contest is divided into four categories: A, B, C, and D. Category A is applicable for graduate students; Category B is applicable for undergraduate and junior college students majoring in English; Category C is applicable for undergraduates not majoring in English; Category D is applicable for undergraduates in physical education and art, as well as vocational and higher specialized students.
Since its launch, this event has attracted much attention from our school's students. This year, more than 1,170 students from the Xiasha Campus participated in the preliminary round, and over 250 students from various departments of the Science and Art College participated. Participating in this event can not only stimulate college students' interest in learning English and comprehensively improve their English level but also showcase the achievements of our school's university English teaching reform, promoting the English teaching level to a new height.
