Ping An Auto Insurance: One-Day Payout - A Moral Commitment or Just Numbers?
Despite frequent质疑s about the true discounts offered by Ping An's telemarketing auto insurance, the company has consistently refused to provide a direct response. Starting from March 9th, Ping An continued to publicly promise that for claims under 10,000 yuan with complete documentation, compensation would be paid out within one day. However, industry professionals pointed out that the speed of disbursing compensation funds does not equate to the overall claims processing speed. Ping An’s commitment is seen as evading the core issues.
Lou Zhenguo, a party involved in a car insurance claim in Jiangsu, who suffered delays in receiving his compensation for nearly 100 days, angrily criticized being "fooled by Ge You (a famous Chinese actor)." A Tencent netizen named "Wo Shi Feng" even commented: "Ping An? The only thing real is Ge You; everything else is fake!"
**Ping An's Commitment: Claims Under 10,000 Yuan Paid Within One Day**
Since March 1st, when lawyers began openly questioning the truth behind Ping An's telemarketing auto insurance discounts, the company has remained silent. However, starting from March 9th, Ping An reiterated its public commitment: For claims under 10,000 yuan with all necessary documents provided, compensation would be processed and paid within one day. At the same time, the company frequently emphasized that in 2011, while optimizing its basic services, it would also continuously offer high-value-added special services to car owners.
According to public records, on March 24, 2009, Ping An Auto Insurance launched a service commitment: "For claims under 10,000 yuan with complete documentation, compensation would be completed within three days." This commitment applied nationwide for cases where the insured amount was less than 10,000 yuan, and the customer submitted valid and complete claim documents. On February 2, 2010, Ping An further committed to "one-day payouts."
**Industry Professionals: Payment Speed Does Not Equal Claims Processing Speed**
Insurance insider Jiang Hao analyzed Ping An's compensation commitment as follows: Compensation is the final step in the auto insurance claims process. The factors truly affecting claims processing speed include on-site investigation, damage assessment, data collection, claims calculation, and the insurer's internal claims approval procedures. Therefore, the speed of compensation does not represent the overall speed of an insurance company's claims processing. Instead, the speed of "complete documentation" and claims approval processes are what best reflect how fast an insurance company can handle claims.
Jiang Hao pointed out that at some government agency vehicle insurance bidding sessions, some insurance companies, years ago, stopped using "one day" to describe their payment speed, opting instead for terms like "immediate." However, relevant departments pay more attention to the speed and support capabilities of insurers in other claims processing stages, including advance payments. Industry experts clearly understand that payment speed does not equal claims processing speed.
**Party Involved Criticizes Ping An: "I Was Fooled By Ge You"**
Lou Zhenguo from Jiangsu complained to Century Insurance Network: On the evening of November 16, 2009, I was hit by a car driven by Zhang. After being discharged from the hospital, my injury was assessed as a sixth-level disability. In June 2010, I entrusted an agent to file a lawsuit at the Xingren Court of Tongzhou District. On November 30, 2010, the court mediated and formed an agreement, confirming that Ping An Property Insurance Co., Ltd. Rudong Branch would pay me a lump sum of 172,928 yuan before December 30, 2010.
Lou Zhenguo said: "I originally thought that Ping An would make payouts as quickly as advertised by Ge You, but unexpectedly, by December 30, 2010, we had still not received any compensation." In January this year, after multiple contacts with Ping An Insurance, the response was always "under negotiation." Lou Guang, Lou Zhenguo's son-in-law, said: "It wasn't until early March that we finally received the compensation."
Lou Guang told Century Insurance Network: "Although I've just received my compensation, I'm wondering: Where is Ping An's integrity after the court mediation? Where is their awareness of simplifying procedures and serving the people? Is the 'quick claims' slogan in Ge You's advertisements really true?"
