Advantages of twin-screw extruders:
1. A clear understanding of the wear condition of vulnerable parts. Due to the convenience of opening, it is possible to discover at any time the wear level of the screw elements and barrel liner, thus enabling effective maintenance or replacement. This avoids discovering problems only when the extruded product has issues, which would cause unnecessary waste.
2. Reduction in production costs. When manufacturing masterbatches, color changes are often required. If a product change is necessary, the open processing area can be opened within a few minutes, and the melt profile across the entire screw can be observed to analyze the mixing process. Currently, ordinary twin-screw extruders require a large amount of purging material for cleaning during color changes, which is both time-consuming, energy-intensive, and wasteful of raw materials. However, split-type twin-screw extruders can solve this problem. During color changes, the barrel can be quickly opened within a few minutes for manual cleaning, thereby eliminating or minimizing the use of cleaning material and saving costs.
3. Improvement in labor efficiency. During equipment maintenance, ordinary twin-screw extruders often require the heating and cooling systems to be dismantled first, followed by the complete extraction of the screws. However, with split-type twin-screw extruders, this is not necessary. Just loosen a few bolts, turn the worm gear box handle device to lift the upper part of the barrel, and the entire barrel can be opened for maintenance. This shortens repair time and reduces labor intensity.
