The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the National Bureau of Statistics jointly released a statistical bulletin on the development of labor and social security in 2007 on February 20. Four sets of data in this bulletin are particularly noteworthy.

These four sets of data are as follows:

— By the end of 2007, the number of migrant workers participating in the basic old-age insurance was 18.46 million, an increase of 4.29 million compared to the end of the previous year.

— By the end of 2007, the number of migrant workers participating in medical insurance was 31.31 million, an increase of 7.64 million compared to the end of the previous year.

— By the end of 2007, the number of migrant workers participating in unemployment insurance was 11.5 million.
