Viewing Rate: "Fire Butterfly" struggles to match "Silver Tower Golden Powder"

ATV's "Fire Butterfly" has been airing for over a week. According to statistics, last week's average viewership was 4.5 points with a peak of 6 points, and the viewership on the night before last was 4.3 points (each point represents 62,940 viewers). On the other hand, TVB's "Silver Tower Golden Powder" started off strong with a first episode rating of 30 points, leaving ATV far behind.

Responses from both sides:

Regarding "Fire Butterfly" failing to break double-digit ratings, ATV's public relations manager Gilbert admitted that the start was relatively slow, with a slower rhythm and possibly less appeal. When asked about expectations for the show, Gilbert laughed and said they naturally hope for high ratings, striving to attract viewers with upcoming climactic plot developments and gain acceptance from the audience. Meanwhile, TVB's external affairs manager Alan Tsang denied scheduling "Silver Tower Golden Powder," which also features themes of wealthy family disputes, to counter "Fire Butterfly." He stated that the plan to air this drama had been made long ago. However, when discussing why "Silver Tower Golden Powder" succeeded, he mentioned that the most appealing aspect of the drama isn't the actors but the storyline and its dramatic essence. When asked if he had watched ATV's similarly themed "Fire Butterfly," he replied no, then added that their average rating was around 4 points. When questioned about his opinion on the quality differences between the two shows, he indicated it wasn't appropriate for him to comment, adding, "In short, dramas about wealthy families sell based on their plots; they need explosive beginnings to capture the audience's attention."
