Viewing Rate: "Fire Butterfly" struggles to match "Silver Tower Golden Powder"

ATV's "Fire Butterfly" has been airing for over a week. According to statistics, last week's average viewership was 4.5 points, with a peak of 6 points, and the rating on the night before last was 4.3 points (each point representing 62,940 viewers). As for TVB's "Silver Tower Golden Powder," the first episode aired on the night before last garnered a rating of 30 points, leaving ATV far behind.

Responses from both sides

Regarding the failure of "Fire Butterfly" to break into double digits, ATV’s public relations manager Gilbert admitted that it started off relatively slow, with a slower rhythm and possibly not enough appeal. When asked about expectations for the show, Gilbert laughed and said they naturally hope for high ratings, striving to attract viewers with upcoming climactic scenes so the audience can accept it. Meanwhile, TVB's external affairs manager Alvin Chan denied orchestrating the scheduling of "Silver Tower Golden Powder," which also features themes of family feuds among the wealthy, in order to block "Fire Butterfly." He stated that the plan to air this drama was made a long time ago. However, when discussing the reasons for "Silver Tower Golden Powder's" success, he mentioned that what makes the show most appealing isn't the actors, but rather the storyline and its dramatic flair. When asked if he had watched ATV's "Fire Butterfly" on the same theme, he replied no, then added that their average rating is around 4 points as well. When further questioned about his opinion on the quality differences between the two dramas, he indicated it wasn't appropriate for him to comment, stating, "In short, dramas about wealthy families sell based on their storylines; they need explosive power right from the start to captivate the audience."
