**Episode 148 Summary**
Wang Shengtian seeks advice from A Shui regarding the child's situation. A Shui tells Shengtian he is asking the wrong person and should instead consult with Li Zhu. Similarly, Xuelian advises that everything should respect Li Zhu’s opinion. Shengtian asks Xuelian to accompany him to discuss the matter with Li Zhu, but Xuelian refuses, saying she lacks the courage to talk to Li Zhu about such a cruel subject. Lin Dazhong arrives and criticizes Shengtian for always involving Xuelian in his problems. Dazhong scolds Shengtian for being indecisive and not taking responsibility as a man.
Shengtian musters the courage to face Li Zhu. Unaware of Shengtian’s intentions, Li Zhu optimistically discusses how to raise the child while in prison. Shengtian notices the child is undernourished and still suffering from jaundice, which worries him. He tries to subtly probe Li Zhu, who becomes sensitive and accuses Shengtian of indirectly deceiving her. Shengtian attempts to emotionally persuade Li Zhu, but she becomes too agitated to continue the conversation. As Shengtian walks away dejectedly, he hears Li Zhu’s frightened face and the baby’s cries echoing in his mind. Shengtian’s heart breaks, and Xiuhui consoles him.
Sulian discovers a new tie and jewelry in Shengzhi’s bag and questions him. Shengzhi claims they were gifts from A Yu. Sulian, angered, grabs scissors to cut them, leading to a struggle. The commotion alerts Wang Mother, who enters the scene. Sulian also throws the jewelry A Yu gave her and Wang Mother into the toilet bowl, angering Wang Mother further. This leads to another conflict between the two.
Dazhong creates a romantic atmosphere and takes Xuelian to the place where he originally proposed, proposing again in an unconventional way. Although Xuelian is surprised and moved, she remains hesitant. Dazhong calls Kunshan for help, saying he has achieved success, passed on the business to others, is filial to his parents, and deeply loves Xuelian, making him an ideal son-in-law. Kunshan agrees to try convincing Xuelian to accept the proposal. Excited, Dazhong says he will soon select a date for their engagement.
A Shui visits Li Zhu again, who still hopes A Shui can help Shengtian. A Shui finally agrees after mentioning Yuefeng, which saddens Li Zhu. A Shui informs Li Zhu that Jin Pao is suspected of plotting to harm Yuefeng and suspects A Yu may also be involved, shocking Li Zhu.
A Shui visits A Yu, expecting A Shui to join Jin Pao. Instead, A Shui questions A Yu about Yuefeng’s case, suspecting collusion among the three. A Yu strongly denies it. Jin Pao returns, and both use tactics to mislead A Shui. A Shui feels A Yu favors Jin Pao over himself and leaves disheartened. Jin Pao feels gratified by A Yu’s loyalty but considers A Shui a threat and plans to manipulate or eliminate him. A Yu pleads with Jin Pao not to harm her brother, to which Jin Pao replies only if A Shui doesn’t force him into desperate measures.
Shengtian appoints A Shui as the company vice president, but A Shui declines at first. Shengtian insists, and A Shui accepts the position, responsible for supervising construction projects on behalf of Shengtian. Though promoted to manager earlier, Shuiwa feels uncomfortable seeing this development.
Liqing returns home, surprising Xiuhui, who informs her about the premature birth. Liqing rushes to visit Li Zhu, upset upon hearing the Wang family plans to take the child. Liqing sympathizes with Li Zhu’s plight and decides to confront Shengtian and Wang Mother. Li Zhu reveals that Xiuhui supports Wang Mother’s plan, leaving Liqing in an awkward position.
Liqing visits the Wang household, questioning Shengtian about the child’s custody. Shengtian explains the dilemma. Liqing then argues with Wang Mother, who proposes a compromise: they will temporarily raise the child until Li Zhu is released from prison, after which they will not oppose their relationship. Furthermore, they will allow Li Zhu to enter the Wang family, reuniting the family. Shengtian and Liqing are persuaded by Wang Mother.
Shengtian and Liqing visit Li Zhu again, appealing emotionally to her concern for the child’s poor health. They mention the agreement, promising regular visits with the child. Despite their assurances, Li Zhu continues to cry and refuses to separate from the child. Liqing vouches for the arrangement, but Li Zhu remains unwilling.
Liqing invites Xuelian to her home, where Xuelian announces her engagement to Dazhong at the end of the month and plans to marry next month. While Liqing and Xiuhui offer blessings, Sulian warns Xuelian based on her own experiences, predicting trouble in their marriage. Xuelian keeps a low profile.
Liqing sarcastically remarks to Sulian about her failed marriages, blaming her own shortcomings. Offended, Sulian departs early, leaving everyone feeling awkward. Sulian feels even more humiliated.
