The story unfolds with the theme of 'police vs. thieves' intelligence battle, starting with a case of 'drug money being stolen'. Detective Jiang Yang (played by Ma Dezhong) bravely captures the drug trafficker and earns great merit, but fails to recover the stolen money. Meanwhile, on the other side, the gang led by Gao Zhe (played by Liu Songren) successfully plans and executes the theft of the drug money. As Yang investigates Zhe, he vows to uncover the mastermind behind the gang, thus beginning the curtain-raiser for the intelligence battle between police and thieves...
During Yang's investigation of Zhe, he discovers that Zhe may be the mastermind behind the bank robbery case five years ago, in which his mentor lost his life. Yang uncovers the hidden truth behind the robbery case, revealing the reality of his mentor's transformation from a police officer to a thief.
As Yang confronts Zhe, he must also face other serious criminals. When unable to gather sufficient evidence to convict these criminals, witnessing the victims' suffering drives him mad, even considering breaking the law himself by framing the criminals. After going through the struggle of transforming from a police officer to a thief, although he finally pulls back at the last moment, he is still subject to an internal police investigation.
On the other hand, as a gentleman thief, Zhe has his own beliefs in helping the weak and robbing the rich to help the poor. He uses unconventional means to punish criminals that the police cannot legally prosecute. Although police and thieves are sworn enemies, they sometimes achieve the same goal of punishing evil and upholding justice. Thus, these two heroes of police and thieves, from being enemies, develop mutual respect, and eventually form a relationship based on righteousness...
The first-generation leading lady, known as the "most godlike portrayal of Little Dragon Maiden," Chen Yulian, has been retired for 14 years. Recently, she returned to TVB and teamed up with veteran actor Liu Songren to shoot their first drama together titled "Originally Falling for a Thief." In the series, the two weave a love story between a divorced woman and the leader of a criminal gang. Additionally, Ma Dezhong, Chen Fala, and Chen Minzhi also star in the show. The drama will air in Hong Kong next Monday (21st).

First Day Shooting Involved Scolding People
"Originally Falling for a Thief" tells the story of conflict between police and thieves, with Ma Dezhong playing the role of a policeman and Liu Songren as a thief, all triggered by a sum of black money leading to an intelligence war between them. Chen Yulian plays a divorced woman with a kind and gentle nature. She mentioned that her decision to take this role was due to Liu Songren's participation. "I considered returning to acting for half a year. Last year, when Brother Song was shooting 'Chronicles of the World' in Vancouver, he kept persuading me to return to acting."
Regarding the level of intimacy in her comeback role, Chen Yulian stated that before accepting the role, she had clarified that she would not film any scenes involving sensuality, kissing, or romantic dialogue. Therefore, there won't be any intimate scenes in the drama, though holding hands is acceptable. Concerning her rest time, she pointed out that there were no special requirements, and director Zhuang Weijian agreed that if she needed to leave Hong Kong, her scenes would be rescheduled as much as possible. Currently, her biggest concern is the NG (No Good) issue, as she experienced frequent NGs while guest-starring in a new film by Ann Hui. However, despite this, co-star "Brother Song" supports "Sister Lian": "Although she hasn't acted for 14 years, she has now basically entered the state. Not only is her acting not rusty, but the NG situation is also not too severe."
