Introduction to the plot:
The male protagonist Ji Cunxi (played by Johnny Won) holds the life-and-death power over the development of the island. However, the island owner only wants to preserve this piece of pure land and does not want it to be destroyed for profit. The eccentric island owner plans to stop the island's development by setting up a "honey trap" for Cunxi... An ordinary office lady named Chen Xinyi (played by Ruby Lin), who longs to tie down her handsome and upright boyfriend, unexpectedly gets an invitation from her boyfriend to board the Love Boat. Secretly rejoicing, Xinyi starts calculating how she will seduce him and bind him to her. But things don't go as planned when she gets seasick and drinks too much, leading to vomiting uncontrollably and entering the wrong room in confusion... Cunxi was planning to propose to his girlfriend on this day. He had arranged a proposal banquet on the Love Boat, but it failed miserably. His girlfriend didn't even board the ship. The island owner had drugged Cunxi's drink, making his mind unclear when he returned to his room. Meanwhile, the severely seasick Xinyi mistakenly thought she saw her boyfriend enter the room and decided to take advantage of the situation... However, things didn't go as planned. Not only did she enter the wrong room, but she also slept with the wrong person. To make matters worse, she... got pregnant.
This story begins with a type of girl that dominates all across Asia—these girls are called "sticky note girls." She is simple, unassuming, and content with small wishes. She has never been anyone special nor expected to become one. Her functions may be small, but she is indispensable, just like a sticky note that can be torn off at any time. Although she may not be particularly noticeable, she is definitely around you! A journey on a "luxury cruise" brings such an ordinary girl into the most extraordinary experience of her life. From a young age, Xinyi has always been afraid of others disliking her. Therefore, she always strives to be nice to others. Whenever someone gives her a little response, she easily falls for them. Everyone calls her a "sticky note girl" because when someone needs her, they can tear her off and use her; when they don't need her, they can throw her away without a second thought. But she is actually a sentimental fool. Her lack of strength often makes her hesitate at critical moments. One day, to win back her philandering boyfriend Gucci, she spends a large amount of travel expenses to tour on the Love Boat. Unexpectedly, she enters the wrong room due to a mistake, and upon waking up, she is shocked to find that she has had a one-night stand with a stranger. Moreover, she discovers that her boyfriend Gucci has been unfaithful and left her for a wealthy widow, which feels like a thunderclap on a clear day.
A month later, when Xinyi sees the result of the pregnancy test, she regrets not jumping off the boat into the sea. At 25 years old, working as a law firm clerk, she is now in debt for 200,000 yuan because of a lousy boyfriend and is carrying the child of an unknown man, which is undoubtedly the most ironic joke in the world. She takes a week's leave from work and prepares to return to her hometown, "Ginger Island," to figure out what to do.
That night, the stranger in bed was Ji Cunxi, the ideal prince charming of all girls—wealthy, handsome, and talented. When he meets the ordinary office lady Chen Xinyi, it marks the beginning of either trouble or the start of happiness.
Due to the genetic disease of the Ji family, each generation has seen a decline in male descendants, continuing until now for nine generations. This causes Pearl Grandma to sleep restlessly every day, fearing that the single spark of the family line might accidentally extinguish! Grandma hopes that her grandson Ji Cunxi could be like other young entrepreneurs, spreading his affections everywhere. However, this grandson remains clean and self-respecting. One day, Grandma accidentally discovers that Xinyi is carrying Cunxi's child. Perhaps blessed by the ancestors of the Ji family, heaven has truly granted her a "little golden grandson," prompting Grandma to insist that Cunxi marry Xinyi. Thus, in order to complete Grandma's wish while alive, Cunxi is coerced into marrying Xinyi through a deceptive marriage.
However, Cunxi realizes he is unwilling to face the fact of marriage and cannot decide whether to run away or have the courage to take responsibility. At this moment, they suddenly discover that they must start dating under Grandma's requirements.
In reality, Cunxi also has a girlfriend, Anna, a ballet dancer with whom he has been in a relationship for three years. Despite multiple romantic proposals, Anna has repeatedly turned Cunxi down softly. Nevertheless, Cunxi silently waits for the day when Anna would finally agree to his proposal. Anna refuses marriage for the sake of her career, while Cunxi unintentionally gets Xinyi pregnant due to an accident. Fortunately, Anna is on a foreign tour performance, allowing Cunxi to conceal this awkward incident. Unbeknownst to Grandma, Cunxi signs a prenuptial agreement with Xinyi, stating that they will divorce after the birth of the child. Cunxi promises to give Xinyi a sum of money, and then they will part ways with no further obligations. Xinyi, considering the future of her unborn child, agrees after careful consideration. Cunxi's plan is that after Xinyi gives birth, when Anna finishes her tour performance and returns home, their contractual relationship will expire, allowing him to reunite with Anna.
Unaware of this, Xinyi moves into Cunxi's house and begins learning how to coexist with him. The subtle evolution from discomfort to getting used to each other's presence between these two strangers is fascinating. Originally thinking they would live under the same roof without interfering with each other, their lives gradually intertwine due to many daily trivial matters. Under Grandma's request, Xinyi moves into Cunxi's bedroom, so Cunxi finds excuses to sleep in the guest room. However, he gradually dislikes the loneliness of sleeping alone and often returns to the original room late at night. Over time, having someone beside him during sleep becomes a habit. Cunxi, who used to dislike eating at home, also starts dining at home. He, who swore not to help with anything, begins selecting wallpapers for the baby's room and toys for the child.
Just as they think this is happiness, the hidden bombshell, Anna, appears unknowingly. Cunxi never imagined that his unclear relationship with Anna would hurt Xinyi. He leaves behind a divorce agreement and disappears. Thinking that this ending is the best conclusion, Xinyi has unknowingly taken root in his heart. He swears that if he finds Xinyi again, he will pursue her once more—not as a father to the mother of his child, but as a man pursuing a woman...
