Queen Hong of Huikyunggung and Hong凤汉 tell Sun to admit before Yeongjo that the weapons cache was indeed established by the late Crown Prince Sado, but the Royal Grandson knew nothing about it beforehand, thus ensuring Sun's survival. However, before Yeongjo, Sun declares that he has not come to admit fault and that Crown Prince Sado never intended rebellion. Yeongjo tells Sun that he too wishes to believe in the innocence of Crown Prince Sado and Sun, asking Sun to provide evidence. Seeing Sun hesitate, Yeongjo angrily slams the table.

In the dead of night, Sun is attacked by an assassin, who eventually commits suicide by ingesting poison. In order to find out who ordered the assassination attempt on him, Sun investigates, but the body has been removed, leaving no traces of the struggle. The next day, Princess Hwa Hyeon visits a troubled Yeongjo, mentioning the events of the previous evening. Princess Hwa Hyeon meets Choi Seok Joo on the street and gives him some instructions.

After enduring countless assassination attempts, Sun feels exhausted. By chance, he encounters a palace maid heading to the royal kitchen, which reminds him of Sung Yeon.

Sun entrusts Nam Si Cho to investigate the source of the poison found in the assassin's mouth.

Upon checking the tributes, Sun becomes enraged upon identifying the floating corpse. As he deciphers the characters left by the deceased, Sun foresees a conspiracy surrounding the Qing envoy mission under his charge.

Sung Yeon is falsely accused of stealing from the Bureau of Paintings. Park Yeong Moon intervenes and rescues her. Sung Yeon is selected as one of the maids accompanying the emperor's banquet. Anticipating a meeting with Sun, Sung Yeon is filled with excitement. Jealous Chu Phi devises a scheme that prevents Sung Yeon from attending the banquet. Sung Yeon accompanies Park Yeong Moon to the banquet venue where she finally encounters Sun.

At the banquet, King Wang takes a fancy to Sung Yeon and wants to bring her back to his residence. Sun requests that a courtesan accompany him instead, causing Wang internal displeasure. Wang asks Sung Yeon to prove her affiliation with the Bureau of Paintings by drawing a picture.

The theft of tribute white cloth and friction with the envoy troupe complicate Sun's mood when Jung Hou Kyum appears before him.

Dae Soo helps raid the ship carrying the tribute white cloth. After hearing from Sung Yeon that this act implicates Sun, Dae Soo is deeply shocked.

Due to the stolen white cloth, merchants must provide a large amount of tribute, prompting people to blame Sun. Sung Yeon devises a good method.
