Starring: Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum (I), Allison Mack, John Glover
In the newly launched seventh season, the director continues the timeless Superman theme. The lives and battles of the main characters have transformed this show into an action-packed blockbuster. In this season, the relationship between Clark Kent (played by Tom Welling, known for "Cheaper by the Dozen") and Lex Luthor (played by Michael Rosenbaum, known for "You Got Served") takes a dramatic turn as they become sworn enemies - a storyline well-known and highly regarded among Superman fans.
The seventh season also features guest appearances from other famous Superman actors, adding extra color to the series. These include Dean Cain (known for the TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman") and Helen Slater (known for "Supergirl"). Combined with the engaging storylines from the original comics, these elements are sure to excite viewers.
In this season, Clark will uncover more secrets about his home planet, including who his biological parents are, what his future journey holds, and why he was sent to Earth.
At the end of the previous season, Lana (Kristin Kreuk, "Love in the Time of Cholera") confronts Lex about his lies and confesses her enduring love for Clark, deciding to leave Lex. Lana then turns to Clark for comfort but is coerced by Lionel (John Glover, "Sulphur") into marrying Lex. Clark tracks down Lionel and foils his plan. At that moment, Martian Manhunter (guest star Phil Morris) appears, explaining to Clark that Lionel is not the enemy but an ally. Their goal is to prevent Lex from finding the last escapee from the Phantom Zone prison, as Lex plans to use the wraith's DNA to create his own Superman army. Meanwhile, Lois (Erica Durance, "The Butterfly Effect 2") decides to take matters into her own hands to destroy Lex. While investigating around Lex's base at Reeves Dam, she encounters guards and is attacked. On the brink of death, she calls Chloe (Allison Mack, "Race to Witch Mountain") for help. Chloe arrives just in time to find Lois barely alive. Disheartened, Chloe embraces Lois and inadvertently releases her latent powers, healing Lois but dying herself after taking on Lois's fatal injuries. Lana's car explodes as she leaves town, and Lex is arrested on charges of murder at his base. To attack Clark, the wraith creates Bizarro, Clark's most powerful adversary. The ultimate battle between the two Supermen destroys Reeves Dam, causing a flood that puts everyone in mortal danger.
In this season, Clark faces the toughest challenge of his life. Bizarro was specifically created to destroy Clark, leading to a fight to the death; a terrible accident claims the life of Clark's beloved; Clark's adoptive mother Martha (Annette O’Toole, "Superman II") leaves Washington; and the greatest test comes from Clark's 19-year-old sister, Supergirl Kara (newcomer Laura Vandervoort).
When the dam is destroyed, Kara's spaceship is jolted away from Earth. Young Kara left Krypton to look after her younger brother Kal-El, who was sent to Earth. In the spaceship, Kara stopped growing, so when she arrives on Earth, she is cared for by her now adult brother. Kara is fascinated by Earth culture and occasionally forgets to hide her superpowers. Her youthful impulsiveness repeatedly places her in dangerous situations until she is exposed by Lex's radar.
Lana's death prompts Lex to reassess his life. He voluntarily goes to prison, begins helping others, and disbands his secret army. However, he starts focusing on Kara and her spaceship, though he is unaware of their connection. Meanwhile, the awkward father-son relationship between Lex and Lionel continues. They suspect each other, and Lex knows that Lionel has concealed many things from him and participated in destroying the secret army. Both relentlessly maneuver against each other, waiting for the other to crack, potentially ending their father-son relationship.
Lois Lane remains skeptical of Lex's repentance. After the secret army caused significant harm to her loved ones, Lois vowed to bring down billionaire Lex. Lois' career is thriving, and the new editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, Grant Gabriel (guest star Michael Cassidy), highly appreciates her proactive work attitude, hiring her as the star reporter for the Daily Planet. Despite excelling in journalism, Lois feels guilty for overshadowing Chloe.
For Chloe, losing out to Lois in the competition isn't the worst thing. She struggles to help Clark conceal his identity while hiding her newfound superpowers from Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore, "A Christmas Cottage"), fearing he might leave her if he finds out. However, Chloe's repeated delays in submitting investigation reports and her relationship with Clark lead Jimmy to doubt their feelings for each other, making him develop an interest in Kara. Although Chloe has encouraged Clark over the past few years to reveal his true identity to Lana, she cannot do the same with Jimmy, fearing he might abandon her if he discovers the truth.
