Orphan Wuma (Zhao Wentao) grew up in the wilderness, learning Tai Chi from his master (Michael Liu) since childhood. The experience of being abandoned by his parents filled him with hatred for the world; to remove the lingering hatred in Wuma's heart, his master sacrificed himself. In order to repay his master and fulfill his father's wish to promote martial arts, Wuma embarked on a journey to pursue the highest realm of Tai Chi.

On this path, he encounters Yan Zigui (Mimi Hu), a military general's daughter who has been secretly in love with him, Sang Qing (Maggie Wu), a close friend who supports him, Duan Xiaoxing (Felix Wong), the head of the Canglong Sect whom he considers a rival, and Luqiu Ao (Dennis Chong), a southern martial arts expert who stirs up trouble, creating obstacles and challenges along his path to enlightenment...

Wuma Fengnian Forms Friendship

As a child, Wuma was abandoned by his parents in the wilderness, and the fear and pain of abandonment left a deep mark on his soul. Young Wuma faced hunger, cold, helplessness, and loneliness alone... This isolated experience became the starting point for his later fear and hatred of the world. Wuma once thought he would die in this lonely despair, but it was Shan Yue who saved him from this confinement and became his master.

After growing up, Wuma's wild nature became even more evident, like a savage in the mountains. Years of living with wild animals made Wuma more reclusive and ferocious. Although he lived on the mountain near the stone quarry village, he never went down. The villagers were also afraid of Wuma, who lived deep in the mountains, and would avoid going up there unless absolutely necessary. The people of the stone quarry village regarded Wuma as a fierce beast, a pest in the mountains.

In the stone quarry village, only the straightforward Fengnian was not afraid of Wuma and considered him a good friend. He often went up the mountain to find Wuma and brought crops from the village to exchange for wild game hunted by Wuma. Although Wuma still had reservations about people, he cherished Fengnian, the only person who wasn't afraid of him, because after living alone on the mountain for many years, Wuma was truly too lonely.

Wuma originally planned to live on the mountain forever, isolated from the world, until he had a conflict with Mr. Ning...

Wuma Seeking the Way, Promoting Martial Arts

Sang Qing was also an orphan abandoned by her parents. She was adopted by Fengnian's mother, who intended to raise her and marry her to her son. Although both Wuma and Sang Qing were orphans, Sang Qing did not disdain people or hate the world like Wuma. On the contrary, due to her experience of being abandoned, Sang Qing cherished the family she now had even more. Despite Fengnian's mother treating her like a cheap bride, and despite her being more like a servant than a family member, Sang Qing did not want this family to slip away from her again. When she learned that Mr. Ning was actively pursuing Wuma and ordered anyone who harbored him to be treated as an accomplice, she unhesitatingly chose to inform on him. Everything she did was to protect this home, her only place of refuge.

Wuma was betrayed by Sang Qing, leaving him nowhere to hide, forcing him to flee the village. Fengnian felt responsible for Wuma's betrayal by Sang Qing and helped him escape out of a sense of duty and guilt.

Escaping the Village Together

It was the first time Wuma and Fengnian had left their hometown. The world was vast, where should they go? At that time, warlords were fighting each other, and wars broke out everywhere. Fengnian had long found the rural life monotonous, and stepping out of the village into a new world filled him with curiosity and excitement. He thought heroes emerged during chaotic times, maybe he was one of those heroes! Wuma, on the other hand, originally wanted to seclude himself in the mountains, but the world wouldn't let him escape, forcing him into the chaos. Wuma's heart was full of anger and hatred at this moment. He vowed to gain power and return to the village for revenge. Thus, Wuma and Fengnian rushed to the battlefield together, hoping to make a name for themselves and seek opportunities for fame and fortune on the battlefield.

But how could things go exactly as planned? The war was far more chaotic and complicated than Wuma and Fengnian imagined. The situation on the battlefield changed rapidly. Not long after joining the army, Wuma and Fengnian encountered the sisters Cuiqiao and Zigui. Zigui, like Wuma, had thoughts of revenge. To fulfill her sister's wish without putting her in danger, Cuiqiao deceived Wuma and Fengnian into killing her father's enemy Wang Shen, claiming that if they killed this person, they could earn merit with the authorities, get promoted, and become rich. Then Wuma would have the ability to take revenge on the Ning family.

When they acted, Wuma and Fengnian didn't know that the person was actually an officer. Wuma unknowingly became a murderer of an officer. Wuma originally wanted to make a name for himself, but now he became a criminal, arrested and imprisoned, facing the risk of execution. Just then, someone appeared and saved him - it was his master, Shan Yue. Later, Wuma mistakenly believed that Shan Yue had really killed his father for the sake of martial arts secrets and ended up killing Shan Yue to avenge his father. Only then did he realize that Shan Yue had sacrificed himself to help him overcome his mental demons. After this incident, Wuma finally freed himself from the shackles of hatred.

To repay Shan Yue's expectations and to fulfill his father Wu Zhi's wish to promote martial arts, Wuma began his journey to pursue the ultimate martial arts path.

Xiaoxing and Wuma - Two Heroes Meet

However, Wuma still hadn't fully understood. His obsession with winning and losing blinded him to the true meaning of Tai Chi, so he couldn't comprehend the essence of Tai Chi's emptiness and the balance between hardness and softness. It was at this time that Wuma met Xiaoxing.

Xiaoxing was the new leader of the Canglong Sect, young and accomplished, with an unlimited future ahead of him, a star in the martial arts world. Xiaoxing came from a prestigious lineage, with excellent talent and a nurturing environment, supported and protected by senior members and peers within the sect. In contrast, Wuma had endured harsh training in the wilds, making their experiences and personalities completely opposite.

They were natural rivals, but their confrontation was fraught with obstacles. The Canglong Sect, being the largest sect in the capital, wasn't something Wuma could easily challenge. Bai Chuan, the overseer of the Canglong Sect and Xiaoxing's uncle, tried every means to block Wuma's challenge. However, Wuma persistently pursued a match with Xiaoxing. At that time, Xiaoxing had just become the leader of the Canglong Sect, and there were still some brothers in the martial arts school who didn't respect him. To establish his authority and avoid being constantly pestered by Wuma, they eventually had a battle. In this fight, because Wuma was too focused on winning and losing and couldn't grasp the truth of Tai Chi, he suffered a crushing defeat at Xiaoxing's hands.

The rise and fall of a martial arts sect depends not only on strength but also on reputation. Xiaoxing was the carefully cultivated and promoted symbol of the Canglong Sect by Bai Chuan, who wouldn't allow any damage to this symbol, even at the cost of his own dignity. Bai Chuan was a man who would sacrifice everything for the sect, even risking disgrace.

A Triangular Relationship - Love and Hatred Intertwined

Besides their martial arts rivalry, Wuma and Xiaoxing were already engaged in another battle, all because of Zigui. That day, Wuma avenged Zigui's father, and Zigui deeply appreciated Wuma. Beyond appreciation, Zigui had inexplicable feelings for Wuma. She fell in love with Wuma and openly expressed her affection, but unfortunately, Wuma had no feelings for her. Zigui was rejected and deeply hurt, and later lost her memory due to an accident.

At this time, the amnesiac Zigui met Xiaoxing. Xiaoxing fell in love with Zigui at first sight and took great care of her. Initially, the amnesiac Zigui also developed feelings for Xiaoxing, but before their relationship could blossom, Zigui met Wuma again and regained her memory. She remembered her feelings for Wuma and the pain he had caused her. Xiaoxing's duel with Wuma was partly instigated by Zigui, thinking that defeating Wuma through Xiaoxing would vent her grievances. However, when she saw Wuma defeated, she felt no joy...

After losing to Xiaoxing, Wuma reflected on his failure and continued to train, hoping to one day defeat Xiaoxing. During Wuma's duel with Xiaoxing, a southern martial arts expert named Luqiu Ao became interested. Luqiu Ao was obsessed with martial arts and traveled far and wide seeking strong opponents and the highest martial arts. During his travels, he eventually met Shan Yue and arranged a match, but Shan Yue had already left, leaving behind Wuma. Luqiu Ao saw the innate wild strength in Wuma and discovered that Wuma was Shan Yue's only disciple. To obtain the true teachings of Shan Yue's martial arts, Luqiu Ao pretended to befriend Wuma, discussing and researching with him, helping Wuma develop the skills taught by Shan Yue, and encouraging Wuma to establish his own sect to promote Tai Chi, fulfilling the wishes of his father Wu Zhi and his master Shan Yue...

This is a story of a martial artist's journey to cultivate and seek the way...

As a child, Wuma was abandoned by his parents in the wilderness, leaving a deep impression of fear and pain on his psyche. Little Wuma faced hunger, cold, and loneliness alone... This period of isolation became the starting point for his later fear and hatred of the world. Wuma once thought he would die in this solitary despair, but it was Shan Yue who rescued him and became his master.

Shan Yue was a wandering martial artist, traveling the world, practicing medicine and helping others while cultivating and seeking the way. Shan Yue found the orphaned Wuma and realized that this unfortunate child was born with a disability, having one side of his body paralyzed and unable to stand normally. Shan Yue was an expert in internal martial arts, and using the method of nourishing qi in internal martial arts, he helped Wuma use qi to guide force, restoring vitality to him. This was the beginning of Wuma's martial arts journey, but Wuma thought he was simply practicing a set of exercises to strengthen his body and cultivate qi, unaware that he was already learning Tai Chi as a child. The shadow of being abandoned always haunted him, gradually leading his personality towards violence. Due to certain reasons, Shan Yue had to leave Wuma, and unexpectedly, his departure made Wuma feel abandoned again.

After growing up, Wuma's wild nature became more apparent. He lived on the mountain near the stone quarry village, and the villagers regarded him as a pest in the mountains. Only the straightforward Fengnian was not afraid of Wuma and considered him a friend. Wuma, though still wary of people, cherished Fengnian, the only person who wasn't afraid of him, because after living alone on the mountain for many years, Wuma was extremely lonely. Wuma originally planned to live on the mountain forever, isolated from the world, until he had a conflict with Mr. Ning...

Mr. Ning was a wealthy landowner in the stone quarry village, and the only person Wuma refused to obey. As a result, the Ning family hired a large number of henchmen to kill Wuma. Wuma's secluded life was disrupted, and the hunter became the hunted. Wuma, trained in breathing techniques by his master and hardened by years of living in the deep mountains, had physical strength and agility beyond ordinary people. Although Wuma didn't know martial arts at the time and fought without any technique, his wild instincts made him formidable, and ordinary martial artists were no match for him. Mr. Ning's hunting team suffered heavy casualties. Despite Wuma's bravery, he couldn't fight off everyone and was eventually injured and forced down the mountain. Fengnian hid Wuma, and just when he thought he could catch his breath, his hiding place was discovered by Ning's men. All because of one person, a woman who informed on him - Sang Qing.

Sang Qing was also an orphan abandoned during the war, later adopted by Fengnian's mother, who intended to raise her and marry her to her son. Although both Wuma and Sang Qing were orphans, Sang Qing didn't disdain people like Wuma did but cherished the family she had. Despite being treated as a cheap bride by Fengnian's mother and more like a servant at home, she didn't want this family to slip away from her again. Therefore, when she learned that Mr. Ning was pursuing Wuma and ordered that anyone who harbored him would be treated as an accomplice, she unhesitatingly informed on him, just to protect this home. Wuma was forced to flee the village, and feeling guilty, Fengnian helped him escape. They didn't know where to go.

Realizing the Truth, Xiaoxing's Heart Breaks

Under Lü Ao's arrangement, Zigui found Wuma and others in Shanghai; but upon hearing the news, Xiaoxing also rushed there simultaneously. Zigui, seeing Xiaoxing's deep affection, couldn't help but reveal the truth that she had regained her memory; she further confessed that she had always deeply loved only Wuma. After understanding everything, Xiaoxing felt as if his heart was cut by a knife.

Lü Ao got Zigui and Wuma drunk and arranged for them to be alone in a room, intending for them to consummate their relationship while drunk.

That night, the half-drunk Wuma left the room and slept in the hallway; Xiaoxing visited Zigui at night, unable to resist having relations with her while she was drunk and then left. Lü Ao conveniently helped Wuma onto Zigui's bed.

The next morning, Zigui thought she had become Wuma's person, but during breakfast, she noticed that Wuma was acting as usual. Lü Ao explained that Wuma might not be used to it yet and hadn't figured out how to handle his situation with Sang Qing. Zigui returned to the martial arts school and returned all the gifts given by Xiaoxing before bidding farewell, causing Xiaoxing to become heartbroken and go mad. Zigui told Cuishan that she had become Wuma's person, shocking Cuishan upon hearing this.

Wuma frankly admitted that he didn't love Zigui, prompting Sang Qing to slap him. Download TVB Tai Chi Theme Song TVB Series Tai Chi TVB Tai Chi Episode 19, demanding he take responsibility. Sang Qing consoled Zigui and promised to leave Wuma. Wuma sought help from Lü Ao, who encouraged Wuma to accept Zigui.
