After many trials, Sarah and her son John finally settle down in the small town of West Fork, Nebraska. In episode 11 of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Sarah changes her last name to Reese. To keep up appearances, she even plans to get engaged to someone. Sarah's fiancé, Daniels, is a kind-hearted man who knows nothing about Sarah and her son's secrets. The one who receives him isn't an ordinary cop, but an FBI agent named James. James reveals Sarah's "true situation" to Daniels - Sarah is a severely mentally ill patient who always fantasizes that robots from the future will kill her son. Furthermore, she bears undeniable responsibility for the death of scientist Miles Dyson and the destruction of Cyberdyne Systems. Neither Daniels nor James knows that this "Missing Persons Report" has caught the attention of a red-eyed machine killer who has been waiting for Sarah to show up for a long time.
In Red Valley, John, who has just adapted to the environment, befriends local girl Cameron and substitute teacher Cromartie. John gets along well with them, originally thinking he could now live peacefully, but unexpectedly, this becomes another turning point in his life - Cromartie turns out to be a Terminator robot who fires at John in front of everyone in the classroom.
