Synopsis:
Four months ago, a terrible car accident took the lives of their parents, but as the new school year begins, 17-year-old Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev) and her 15-year-old brother Jeremy (played by Steven R. McQueen) must try to forget their grief and move on.
Elena has always been the "student star" of the local school—beautiful, popular, able to integrate into school life and make friends—but in this new school year, she has to work hard to hide her pain over losing her parents both in public and in private.
The new school year seems not much different from usual, but the arrival of transfer student Stefan Salvatore (played by Paul Wesley) changes everything. Both Elena and her friends are irresistibly drawn to this exceptionally handsome yet mysterious newcomer.
