Synopsis:
When men grow up, they should marry; when women grow up, they should wed. For men, besides pursuing their careers, their greatest wish is how to marry a good wife. If you marry a good wife, life becomes stable...
Mao Doudou, an emergency room nurse, and Yu Wei, a photographer from a portrait studio, go on a blind date but encounter Mao Doudou's first love, Li Ruqiu. The blind date ends unhappily.
In the evening, Mao Doudou's brother, Mao Feng, a new-age magician, brings his girlfriend Qin Susu home for dinner and announces their upcoming wedding. Mao Doudou's parents have no control over their son, and the wedding proceeds as planned. However, on the second day of marriage, the groom announces his fear of marriage, disappears without a word, and requests a divorce. In her helplessness, Qin Susu proposes to leave her 7-year-old daughter with Mao Doudou's family for care as a condition of the divorce. Thus, the one-day marriage ends.
Mao Doudou begins a series of blind dates. Unbelievably, every different person introduced turns out to be Yu Wei. Resigning themselves to fate, Mao Doudou and Yu Wei begin to seriously examine each other. Yu Wei reveals the purpose of his consecutive blind dates, explaining that he has been pretending to be his drowned childhood friend for years, sending his own photos to the friend's grandmother. Now, due to her old age, the grandmother hopes to see her "grandson" find a wife soon, and Yu Wei wants to fulfill the elderly woman's wish. Moved by his kindness, Mao Doudou gradually develops feelings for him. Soon, they reach the stage of meeting both sets of parents. Yu Wei informs Mao Doudou beforehand about his complicated family situation—"two fathers, two mothers, and a sister who lost her father on the second day of marriage." He explains that his parents divorced and remarried separately, and the two mothers are at odds with each other. After much hesitation, Mao Doudou finally gathers the courage and asks Yu Wei to arrange a meeting between both sets of parents. As expected, the scene is chaotic, leaving Mao Doudou caught in the middle, struggling to deal with the situation.
Finally, Yu Wei and Mao Doudou get married. After the wedding, they return home to find that Yu Wei's sister, who lost her father, has formally notified them that she will be living with the couple. Despite their complaints, they have no choice but to force smiles and welcome her.
Post-marriage life remains relatively peaceful, though Yu Wei's peculiar sister, Yu Hao, constantly finds fault and causes trouble. Thanks to Mao Doudou's tolerance and easygoing nature, these issues are resolved smoothly. However, the presence of two mothers-in-law truly troubles Mao Doudou. Even details like the number of visits and gifts given to each mother can be used as evidence of favoritism.
On one side, conflicts arise, while on the other, Mao Doudou's younger brother Mao Feng prepares to marry a wealthy woman named Long Jin. Unexpectedly, Long Jin abandons Mao Feng, leaving him dejected because he had never experienced being rejected by a woman before. In his despair, he meets a rural girl named Pan Meili, whom he calls an "original ecology" girl. Shockingly, the two quickly marry. Soon, Pan Meili's various "original ecology" behaviors become intolerable to Mao Feng, whose flirtatious nature leads him back to纠缠with Long Jin. However, Pan Meili continues to love him with her simple heart.
Yu Wei's stepfather is suddenly diagnosed with cancer, and his son Yang Yifan rushes back from the island where he serves as a soldier guarding the island. Faced with Yang Yifan's pride, Yu Hao unexpectedly feels something stir within her. Due to the importance and busyness of Yang Yifan's work, he cannot stay at home for long. Yu Hao and Mao Doudou take it upon themselves to care for Yang's father. When Yang Yifan returns to the island, he misses getting off the train and ends up at the next station. Concerned about Yu Hao traveling alone by train, he accompanies her further. During their journey, they engage in more conversation, and as they part ways, there's a hint of something special in their eyes.
Meanwhile, Mao Feng, entangled again with Long Jin, believes her get-rich-quick scheme and encourages friends and relatives to invest in her so-called project. Deeply loving and trusting him, Pan Meili even persuades her parents and siblings-in-law to participate in the investment. While everyone dreams of becoming rich, Long Jin disappears, making Mao Feng realize he's been tricked again. Feeling extremely down, Pan Meili stays by his side, telling him she's willing to start anew with him. Mao Feng is deeply moved.
Although cared for by everyone, Yang's father maintains good spirits, but the disease is merciless. As Yang's father falls critically ill, he wishes to see his son one last time. Yang Yifan rushes back, but unfortunately, he doesn't get to see his father again. Instead, he finds his father's will, which shocks everyone—it states that after death, Yang's father wishes to be buried alongside Yang Yifan's mother, Yang Shu's ex-wife. No one dares to tell this to Yu Wei's mother.
Yang Yifan must soon return to his military post. Yu Hao goes to see him off again. As the train departs, Yu Hao does not get off, choosing to stay on the train herself this time. She bravely confesses her feelings to Yang Yifan, expressing her willingness to become the wife of a soldier.
Yu Wei's mother soon learns of Yang's father's final wish. Initially unable to accept it, her mood plummets, and many unintentional actions by Mao Doudou and others become targets of her criticism. However, under the children's comfort and tolerance, she eventually lets go of her resentment and fulfills Yang's father's last wish.
Yang Yifan, unwilling to burden Yu Hao due to his long-term deployment on the island, finds Yu Hao exceptionally resolute. They meet at the train station as Yang Yifan attends military school. As the train departs, Yu Hao jumps onto the train again, determined to marry this soldier.
At Yang Yifan and Yu Hao's wedding, Mao Doudou's two mothers-in-law, encouraged by a group of young people, reconcile all past grievances.
