Synopsis:
This series is also created by the Emmy-winning duo Joe Russo and Anthony Russo (Arrested Development). Most sitcoms in the past revolved around four main elements - 'love', 'family', 'life', and 'work'. However, this show takes a different approach by focusing on higher education. CBS's "The Big Bang Theory" is one of the successful examples of this type in recent years. How does America address the issue of making education accessible? How do adults who have entered society but want to further their education receive higher education? This sitcom answers these questions to some extent.
The students at Greendale Community College are somewhat 'special'. It's not that they have any physical defects, but rather because of their diverse backgrounds - there are former 'underachievers' from high school, newly divorced housewives, and elderly people who believe in lifelong learning. Without the sanctity of an ivory tower, community colleges fulfill these people's dreams of 'higher education'.
The protagonist is a fast-talking lawyer (played by Joel McHale) who once had a college degree, but it was invalidated due to unforeseen circumstances. Unable to return to university to study again, he chooses to join a community college. His active mind quickly helps him make a group of friends, and he organizes a study group among them. In fact, their understanding of each other may be deeper and more valuable than their understanding of textbooks and homework.
Life is short; don't waste your prime years. That's the message this show wants to convey.
