"The Pacific" is a big gamble, with a production cost of $223 million, which is twice as much as its investment in "Band of Brothers". In 2007, HBO officially approved the plan for "The Pacific", and began high-profile promotion in 2009. However, the president of HBO said that they did not set revenue or viewership targets for this series, but just wanted to enhance HBO's global image through this series and continue to build the war drama brand of "Band of Brothers".
