Plot introduction:

This is a story of a generation of Confucian merchants who struggle and strive for survival in the turmoil of old China, eventually transforming and being reborn to benefit the world.

This is the fourth work of Li Yapeng as both producer and actor after "Beach", "Witness", and "Our Marriage". With an investment exceeding 50 million yuan, it is hailed as a grand production of the Republic of China drama. Yang Xiaoxiong, who previously worked as a cinematographer in Feng Xiaogang's films "Never Ending Story" and "I Am Your Father" before switching to directing, takes on the role of director. The cast also includes many accomplished actors such as Ti Long, Xu Huanshan, Zhao Lixin, and Wu Ming, making it a powerhouse production.

The series tells the extraordinary struggle between Zhenjiang's century-old "Hengjiang" vinegar workshop family and Japanese enterprises for national interests during the Republican era. It reflects the tragic and arduous fate of old Chinese capitalists filled with blood and tears. In terms of subject matter, it breaks new ground by using the vinegar-making industry as the backdrop of the story, pioneering the brewing industry theme in domestic TV dramas. The brutal business wars under the turbulent situation, the deadly struggles between various factions in old China, the helplessness of brotherly conflicts, and the complex emotional entanglements make "Blood Colored Sandalwood" highly entertaining.
