Plot Summary:
The story of "Desperate Housewives" begins with the suicide of Mary Alice Young as she tries to cover up a shocking secret. In each episode, she narrates her friends' lives from the perspective of an outsider, which is one of the highlights of the show's production. Her friends include: Susan Mayer, a divorced single mother who has had many ups and downs in love; Lynette Scavo, a mother overwhelmed by career and family issues; Bree Van De Kamp, a widow raising two problematic children; Gabrielle Solis, a former popular model who has everything many women dream of - a wealthy husband, a mansion, luxury cars - but a happy marriage eludes her. And then there's Edie Britt, a real estate agent who has been married multiple times and whose love life is also a mess.
In the new season, young actress Maiara Walsh will become a regular cast member, having guest-starred in the last two episodes of the previous season as the teenage girl Ana Solis, who also had conflicts with Gabrielle.
In the poster, Bree is holding a teacup, Gaby is pushing a vacuum cleaner, Lynette is holding a teddy bear, Susan is holding an apple, and Katherine is holding a toaster. These items may hint at changes in the characters for the new season.
Previously, we learned that a new family will join Wisteria Lane to replace Edie, played by Nicollette Sheridan in the previous season. The new housewife in the show is named Angie Vitale, portrayed by Drea de Matteo. She has a handsome young son named Danny Bolen, played by Beau Mirchoff. He first hooks up with a nearby gay couple and then starts a relationship with Julie, Susan's daughter who has returned.
Julie will make a full return in Season 6. Previously, Julie was absent in most of Season 5 as she supposedly went off to college. Actress Andrea Bowen, who plays Julie, will become a regular cast member in the next season and will appear in the premiere episode airing on September 27.
