The Mexican drama "Love in the Wine Country" shows viewers a variety of unique local customs.
After the death of old estate owner Amador, members of the Montalvo family gathered from various places to attend the funeral, including eldest son Felipe, eldest daughter-in-law Constanza, second son Bruno and his wife Fedra, second daughter Sofia, and youngest daughter Daniela. In his will, Amador declared that whichever grandson—Rodrigo or Aaron—has a son first will inherit all the Montalvo family's property. During the mourning ceremony, female worker Gaviota catches Rodrigo's attention. After several encounters, Gaviota and Rodrigo fall in love. Rodrigo and Gaviota agree to marry on March 21st of the following year, and before that, Rodrigo must return to London to finish his studies.
Aaron is a womanizer. To secure the inheritance, he instructs his fiancée Minerva to quickly prepare for their wedding in Mexico City, but after returning to London, he indulges in nightly revelries. Gaviota discovers she is pregnant but cannot contact Rodrigo no matter what. Just as she is anxious, photographer Rolando tells Gaviota that he can help her become a model in Europe, which makes her overjoyed. When Gaviota arrives in Paris, she realizes she has been sold into a brothel. She manages to escape from captivity with her life. The kind-hearted boss Benvenuto takes her in and sponsors her trip to London to find Rodrigo. As soon as Gaviota arrives in London, she meets Rodrigo, whom she has missed day and night on the road. However, while crossing the street, she unfortunately gets into a car accident. The baby miscarries, and Gaviota is heartbroken. Meanwhile, Rodrigo rushes back to Mexico due to his father's sudden death. In Mexico, Rodrigo meets Isadora, who falls in love with him at first sight.
Gaviota, lying in the hospital bed, decides to reinvigorate herself, learning various languages from Sister Felicity while recuperating. At Aaron and Minerva's wedding, Isadora openly expresses her affection for Rodrigo, but he refuses her, telling her that his heart belongs to another. After the funeral of his father, Rodrigo learns that Gaviota went to Europe to work as a prostitute. He believes it to be true and is consumed by pain, deciding to propose to Isadora to forget about Gaviota. Rodrigo and Isadora get married on March 21st; however, on their wedding night, Rodrigo gets drunk and does not want to face the devoted Isadora at all.
After recovering, Gaviota travels a long distance back to the estate only to discover that Rodrigo is already married. Upon hearing that Gaviota has returned, Rodrigo loses all interest in spending his honeymoon with Isadora and immediately finds Gaviota to question why she went to Europe, but Gaviota angrily drives him away. Gaviota tells Clarita about her experiences in Europe, leaving Clarita both sorrowful and angry. Clarita then recounts Gaviota’s story to Rodrigo. Filled with remorse, Rodrigo tries to seek Gaviota’s forgiveness but is rejected. He resolves to divorce Isadora, but the next day he discovers that Gaviota and her mother have quietly left the estate.
Gaviota and her mother arrive in Mexico City, where the kind Mrs. Jose helps them find a place to live. Gaviota works as a front desk receptionist at a hotel. Her command of multiple languages impresses Manager Maximino but incurs the jealousy of Human Resources Director Flavia. Rodrigo proposes a divorce to Isadora and sends people to search for Gaviota everywhere, infuriating Isadora. Subsequently, Isadora lies about falling off a horse and getting injured, deceiving Rodrigo, who was searching for Gaviota everywhere, back to her side. Upon learning that Rodrigo and Gaviota once had a child, Isadora becomes even more anxious and reveals this matter to Minerva.
Upon hearing that Rodrigo and Gaviota once had a child, Aaron panics but still can't change his womanizing nature. On one hand, he urges Minerva to hurry up and conceive a child, and on the other hand, he continues to fool around with his lovers. To build a career, Gaviota enrolls in correspondence courses and buys her mother a sewing machine and television through installment payments. Time flies, and before they know it, it has been over a year since Gaviota left the estate, yet Rodrigo still hasn't been able to track down her whereabouts.
