"24" Season 8 will start in New York, which is the home to the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of America. On a new day, CTU reopens with a new leader Brian Hastings (Mykelti Williamson, Forrest Gump), who has a sharp mind and an MBA degree. Former Marine Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) joins CTU hoping to follow Jack Bauer; he will be responsible for field operations. The new additions to CTU also include data analysis expert Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff, Battlestar Galactica) and system analysis expert Arlo Glass (John Boyd). Rob Weiss (Chris Diamantopoulos) becomes the new Chief of Staff for President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones), and journalist Meredith Reed (Jennifer Westfeldt, Grey's Anatomy) is also involved in the events that will happen on this day.
In addition to Jack and the President, Chloe (played by Mary Lynn Rajskub) and Renee Walker (played by Annie Wersching) will return for Season 8. Bollywood star Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire) will make his first appearance on American television, playing Omar Hassan, a Middle Eastern leader who comes to the United States on a peace mission.
