The 2010 TVB modern drama series "Husband Forever", tells the story of a small man who endures an overbearing wife. Cheng Chen and Gao Lixin have been married for seven years, but throughout this time, Chen has always been under strict control by his overbearing wife. However, Chen often swallows his anger to avoid conflict. In reality, Xin does not want to be an overbearing wife, but on their wedding day, she accidentally discovered evidence of Chen's infidelity. She firmly believes that "men are bound to stray." Therefore, Xin has continuously retaliated by "supervising" this "rotten philandering husband." Chen's younger brother Cheng Yi considers himself a womanizer. He spends all his time on investment and romantic conquests. Yi's new target is the new secretary at the pharmaceutical company, Miao Lingzhi. When Yi goes to spend the night with Zhi, he discovers that Zhi has a child. Upon inquiry, it turns out that he forgot about the brief affair he had with Zhi in a different place years ago. Yi has always followed the motto "never leave seeds when chasing women," but this time, it backfired on him. In reality, Zhi is not Yi's old lover; she is actually a corporate spy who deliberately set a trap to steal commercial secrets through Yi in order to secure the agency rights for a new health product. When Yi suspects whether Zhi's child is his, he sends Chen on a covert mission to track Zhi and investigate the truth. Chen leads his lustful and greedy subordinates, Kuang Xinsu and Kong Juesi, known as the "Clumsy Trio," northward to Shenzhen to uncover the truth for Yi.
Meanwhile, Xin intuitively senses that Chen and others have gone north to fool around. So, without making a sound, she teams up with her close friend and Su's newlywed wife, Pan Nixi, to catch them in the act. Chen and the others suddenly discover their wives' appearance and narrowly escape danger, but upon returning to Hong Kong, Xin demands a divorce and questions Chen about his "rendezvous" on their wedding day. Chen suddenly realizes that Xin's long-standing "supervision" of him was all a misunderstanding. He clarifies that he rushed to the hotel that day to take his heartbroken younger brother Yi away and brings Yi's ex-girlfriend You Jiali to tell the truth. The couple clears up their misunderstanding. At the same time, just as Zhi's scheme is about to succeed and she is about to smoothly obtain the agency rights for the health product, Yi uses a counterintelligence move to turn the tables and regain the agency rights, defeating Zhi.
The plight of men—career and marital crises! Pharmaceutical company boss Lu Changchun suddenly hires Zhi back to the company as a senior marketing executive, putting her on equal footing with Yi. Due to Zhi's extensive reforms within the company and her focus on young female markets, she often clashes with Yi. One time, unfortunately involving one of Chen's subordinates being blamed, Chen voluntarily resigns to protect his subordinate's job, which angers Xin. However, Xin's mother Jin Yin Hua doesn't see it that way, believing it's a great opportunity to get Chen to work in the fruit transportation company to improve their marital relationship.
After joining the transportation company, in order to please Xin, Chen intentionally blends in with the four rude and lecherous truck drivers known as the "Four Heavenly Kings." Unexpectedly, his efforts backfire, leading to a fight with some local tough guys. During the suppression, an officer loses his gun. Later, a young fruit market worker, Chen Yongxiao, flirts with Xin, rekindling her youthful feelings, causing her heart to flutter with springtime emotions, deeply fearing that she might stray.
At the pharmaceutical company, Yi strives to outperform Zhi by successfully inviting his ex-girlfriend Li to be the product spokesperson. Yi takes the opportunity to rekindle their romance, only to find out that Li is about to get married, hurting Yi's feelings once again. It is then that Zhi realizes Yi's unruly behavior was caused by Li. Zhi privately admires Yi's talent and supports him to complete the work together. Yi regains his spirit and is grateful to Zhi, improving their relationship.
Since the successful promotion of the new product targeted at young people, Yi and Zhi collaborate seamlessly, transforming from business partners into close friends, secretly developing feelings for each other. Zhi molds Yi into her ideal lover in her mind, but due to her pride, she doesn't reveal it. Later, Yi discovers that his success was all arranged by Zhi behind the scenes. With strong self-esteem, Yi confronts Zhi angrily. Chen and Xin reconcile their differences, and they joyfully learn they are expecting a child. They don’t hesitate to spend a large sum on an electronic baby to practice parenting skills. At this time, Chen's mother, Heng, is diagnosed with cancer. To witness the birth of her grandchild, Heng bravely undergoes chemotherapy despite the suffering. Chen is filial to his mother and urges Xin to take care of herself during pregnancy. Will their wish come true? It seems heaven is testing the good people, adding more twists and obstacles, involving Yi and Zhi, accelerating the conclusion of their long-term love race, creating many touching and joyful moments.
