Plot Summary:
The story of "Desperate Housewives" begins with Mary Alice Young committing suicide to cover up a shocking secret. In each episode, she narrates her friends' lives from the perspective of an outsider, as a deceased person. This is one of the highlights of the show's production. Her friends include: Susan Mayer, a divorced single mother who has had many ups and downs in love; Lynette Scavo, a mother who is overwhelmed by both her career and family life; Bree Van De Kamp, a widow raising two problematic children; Gabrielle Solis, a former popular model who has everything many women desire - a wealthy husband, a mansion, luxury cars - but a happy marriage eludes her. There is also Edie Britt, a real estate agent who has been divorced multiple times, and her love life is also a mess.
