The Mexican drama "Love in the Wine Country" shows audiences a variety of unique local customs.
The old estate owner Amador passes away, and members of the Montalvo family gather from various places to attend the funeral. This includes Felipe, the eldest son; Constanza, Felipe's wife; Bruno, the second son, and his wife Fedra; Sophia, the second daughter; and Daniela, the youngest daughter. In his will, Amador declares that all the Montalvo family property will be inherited by whichever grandson—Rodrigo or Aaron—first has a son. During the memorial service, the female worker Gaviota catches Rodrigo’s attention. Over subsequent encounters, Gaviota and Rodrigo fall in love. Rodrigo and Gaviota make plans to get married on March 21st of the following year, during which time Rodrigo must return to London to finish his studies.
Aaron is promiscuous and, in order to secure the inheritance, he instructs his fiancée Minerva to quickly prepare for their wedding in Mexico City. However, after returning to London, Aaron indulges in nightly revelries. Gaviota discovers she is pregnant but cannot reach Rodrigo no matter what she tries. Just as she is anxious, photographer Rolando tells Gaviota that he can help her become a model in Europe. Gaviota is overjoyed. Upon arriving in Paris, Gaviota realizes she has been sold into a brothel. She manages to escape from her captivity with her life. The kind-hearted boss Benvenuto takes Gaviota in and sponsors her trip to London to find Rodrigo. As soon as Gaviota arrives in London, she meets Rodrigo, the man she has missed day and night. Unfortunately, while crossing the road, she gets hit by a car and suffers a miscarriage. Heartbroken, Gaviota decides to recover and learn various languages from Sister Felicity while recuperating. After his father’s funeral, Rodrigo learns about Gaviota working as a prostitute in Europe. Believing it to be true, he is devastated and decides to propose to Isadora to forget Gaviota. Rodrigo and Isadora get married on March 21st, but on their wedding night, Rodrigo gets drunk and shows no interest in the devoted Isadora.
After recovering, Gaviota travels a long distance back to the estate only to discover that Rodrigo is already married. When Rodrigo finds out Gaviota has returned, he immediately confronts her about her trip to Europe, but Gaviota angrily drives him away. Gaviota recounts her European ordeal to Clarita, who is both heartbroken and angry. Clarita informs Rodrigo about Gaviota's experience. Regretful, Rodrigo attempts to seek Gaviota's forgiveness but is rejected. Determined to divorce Isadora, Rodrigo discovers the next day that Gaviota and her mother have quietly left the estate.
Gaviota and her mother arrive in Mexico City, where the kind Mrs. Jose helps them find a place to live. Gaviota works as a front desk receptionist at a hotel, impressing Manager Maximino with her command of multiple languages, though this draws envy from HR Director Flavia. Rodrigo proposes a divorce to Isadora and sends people searching for Gaviota, which infuriates Isadora. Subsequently, Isadora lies about being injured from falling off a horse to lure Rodrigo back. Learning that Rodrigo and Gaviota once had a child makes Isadora even more anxious, and she reveals this fact to Minerva.
Upon learning that Rodrigo and Gaviota had a child, Aaron panics but remains unfaithful. He continues urging Minerva to conceive while still mingling with his lovers. To build a career, Gaviota enrolls in correspondence courses and buys her mother a sewing machine and a television through installment payments. Time flies, and over a year has passed since Gaviota left the estate, yet Rodrigo still hasn't found her. Finally, Minerva becomes pregnant and goes to the company to share the news with her husband, only to see Aaron fooling around with his secretary Yovia in the office. Enraged, Minerva uses her pregnancy to force Aaron to dismiss the secretary.
