In 2010, CCTV-8's prime-time legendary drama series "Blood Scent" features a full set of episodes. The spy thriller intricately portrays the tumultuous waves of war and the merchant rivalry, interpreting righteousness and evil amidst the chaos.

Plot Introduction:

In the summer of the 17th year of the Republic of China (1928), amidst internal strife and external threats, the shocking international event known as the "Huanggutun Incident" cast a dark shadow over the sixtieth birthday celebration of Chu Tianchu, the patriarch of Zhenjiang’s "Hengchang Workshop." As a major player in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang brewing industry, Hengchang Workshop faced fierce competition from the aggressive Japanese-funded "Jinghe Company," which had entered Zhenjiang with substantial capital. In the ensuing struggle, Chu Tianchu and his eldest son Qinghan met an untimely and mysterious death. Meanwhile, Su Qishan, the dominant force in Yangtze River shipping for twenty-four years and future in-law to the Chu family, was ambushed by gunfire, resulting in the brutal massacre of all seventeen members of his family. Beneath the turbulent waters of the Yangtze River, ominous signs of impending bloodshed loomed large, far beyond what any shrewd businessman could have foreseen. At this critical juncture, the third son of the Chu family, Qingping, who had just returned from studying abroad, stepped forward resolutely.

Soon after, white vinegar manufactured by "Jinghe" began flooding the market along the Yangtze River, overshadowing the traditional fragrant vinegar produced by "Hengchang." Suddenly, there were reports of widespread product contamination. Struggling to maintain their position, the Chu family was forced to make drastic cuts, leaving only thirty-six workshops in peril. "Hengchang" secretly investigated the perpetrators and engaged in a battle of wits with "Jinghe." They also swiftly took legal action against "Jinghe" for its illegal practices of selling white vinegar made from industrial acetic acid, endangering the public. Pressured by circumstances, Chu Qingping took a historic step for the Chu family: transforming the traditional workshop-style production by emulating "Jinghe" and establishing their own bottled vinegar production line.

Behind the commercial rivalry between the two companies lay a much larger contest between Japan's secret military organization, the Sakura Society, and the predecessor of the Nationalist Party's Central Investigation Bureau. This power play revolved around the seventeen workshops of "Hengchang" along the river, intertwining moral righteousness with national survival. Every covert deal and every manipulation pointed towards a grand conspiracy involving various factions, including underworld gangs and regional warlords. Amidst plots of murder for profit, ancient vendettas, and Japanese atrocities, even the astute Zhou Xiuzhang, the comprador of "Jinghe," remained a puppet of the Sakura Society. The Chief of the Investigation Bureau also suffered heavy losses. Before the truth emerged, every twist and turn seemed to undo previous efforts, while every minor ripple concealed a greater storm.

Just as news arrived that the Su family had left behind an orphan, both the real and fake Miss Su appeared one after another. The old third and fourth brothers of the four sworn brothers temporarily formed an alliance, using the identities of the real and fake Miss Su to stir up trouble, leading to more deaths. For a time, the Chu household was shrouded in mystery. Under immense pressure, the mute maid suddenly spoke, revealing the true identity of Miss Su. Meanwhile, someone always watched everything unfold from the shadows, manipulating events flawlessly...

Regarding the qualification for participation in the Chicago World's Fair awards, conflicts arose within the Chu family, among the Sakura Society, the Central Party Department Investigation Office, underworld gangs, southwestern warlords, the third and fourth brothers, and the Chu household itself. The third young master narrowly escaped death in a gunfight during a social gathering, gaining profound insight overnight. To resolve the funding bottleneck for building the production line, he painfully decided to sell the seventeen workshops along the river. Consequently, the Chu family, adhering steadfastly to the ancestral precept of pursuing profit through righteousness, embarked on a vigorous journey to develop new ventures, charting a new path for national industries, and achieving the lofty goal of enriching the people and saving the nation.

Ultimately, under the strategic planning of the opposing Chief Jin, the Sakura Society's plans failed, but they continued to lurk amidst the grave national crisis. In the twentieth year of the Republic of China (1931), at a time of nationwide indignation following the "September 18th Incident," the Zhenjiang Hengchang Brewing Co., Ltd. was born. Chu Qingping resolutely donated all proceeds from the sale of the seventeen workshops along the river to the anti-Japanese troops in Northeast China. On that day, fervent sentiments surged within and outside the Hengchang Workshop, with the rallying cries of "Return our Northeast Three Provinces, return our homeland!" echoing long and loud above the riverbank...
