This drama aims to explore the concept of happiness for people today. Through laughter and satire, it conveys deeper meanings, allowing audiences to reflect on the strange realities of modern society within a serious yet humorous family emotional story. It prompts viewers to reconsider the restless mindset of seeking quick success and material wealth. The drama uses the "non-action" and "silent teaching" of a small character to interpret the most simple and pure concept of happiness.

Fu Jixiang, known as Fu Lao Da (the eldest brother), lost his parents at an early age. As the eldest son, he raised three younger brothers and one sister, sending them all to university in Beijing. When his siblings grew up and achieved success in their careers, Fu Lao Da had already missed the prime years of his own life. His marriage failed due to infertility, and after being laid off, he became a foot masseur. However, he faced everything with enough optimism and still harbored his own ideals for his career and life - to become a professional massage therapist and a father. By chance, he met Lele, a child with autism, and they hit it off immediately. Lele's mother Mei Hao was abandoned by her husband and was raising Lele alone, falling into financial difficulties. Fu Lao Da saved Mei Hao from attempting suicide, recognized Lele as his godson, and took Mei Hao as his apprentice, teaching her foot massage techniques. The three of them lived together dependently, leading a peaceful life in a small city in Northeast China.

At this time, the brothers and sisters living in Beijing returned to their hometown in Northeast China to relocate the graves of their deceased parents. Fu Ji'an, the second eldest of the Fu family, sent Xin Wen, the administrative director of Ji'an Group, back to the hometown earlier to arrange the itinerary. Fu Lao Da was deceived in the second-hand mobile phone market and bought a stolen mobile phone, which happened to be Xin Wen's. When the Fu siblings reunited in the old house, the police came to investigate the matter of the mobile phone. Ji'an felt embarrassed and angrily fired Xin Wen. The younger siblings all thought that the eldest brother was not happy and didn't want him to continue doing the "lowly job" of pressing people's feet. They hoped to change his lifestyle and decided to take their elder brother to live in Beijing. However, Fu Lao Da did not feel unhappy himself, but he was also afraid of delaying his siblings' important matters, so he decided to temporarily comply with their arrangements and go to Beijing to enjoy a few days of comfort. After arranging for Mei Hao and her son, Fu Lao Da followed his younger siblings to Beijing.

After arriving in Beijing, Ji'an settled his elder brother in his own home. However, due to differences in living habits and concepts, there were various big and small conflicts. During a visit to his younger brother's company, Fu Lao Da coincidentally met Xin Wen who was about to resign. Out of guilt, Fu Lao Da tried hard to retain Xin Wen and persuaded her boyfriend Zhang Qiang not to break up with her because of her resignation. A series of discomforts made Fu Lao Da feel that he should return to Shun Cheng to lead his own life soon. Just as he was preparing to leave, Mei Hao suddenly arrived in Beijing with Lele. It turned out that Lele's condition had worsened, and the manager of the foot massage center asked Mei Hao to bring her child to Beijing to find Fu Lao Da.

In order for Lele to receive rehabilitation training at an autism recovery kindergarten in Beijing, Fu Lao Da decided to stay in Beijing, rented a house for Mei Hao and her son, and started working and earning money at his younger brother's company. Initially feeling lost, he gradually discovered that all the white-collar workers in the company had varying degrees of health problems, and began to adjust their bodies and promote wellness. Fu Lao Da also found Mei Hao a job at a foot massage shop. In the daily life spent together, he and Mei Hao developed a sincere mutual dependence from master and apprentice to lovers. However, their relationship encountered strong opposition from Fu Lao Da's younger siblings.

With the second brother Ji'an leading the charge, the younger siblings believed that Fu Lao Da would not be happy with Mei Hao, who had a sick child and worked as a foot masseuse. They began a "rescue" operation for Fu Lao Da. They attempted to matchmake him with Xin Wen, a high-level white-collar worker. First, they arranged for Fu Lao Da to work under Xin Wen, then let Xin Wen personally teach him how to drive, trying hard to create opportunities for the two. Xin Wen clearly understood the situation but approached it like a task at work. However, in a series of laughable events, Xin Wen was gradually moved by Fu Lao Da's kindness, attentiveness, and sincerity. This seemingly strong woman who craved tenderness inside slowly understood Fu Lao Da, and the two gradually became good friends.

Due to the constant interference from Fu Lao Da's younger siblings, Mei Hao had no choice but to leave Fu Lao Da. Feeling heartbroken and upset, she found new opportunities and choices in the dazzling metropolis. She began to re-examine her relationship with Fu Lao Da. Mrs. Xia, an elderly lady who received massages from Mei Hao, liked her gentle personality very much and wanted her to be her daughter-in-law. Faced with the resistance of reality and what seemed to be a better choice, Mei Hao went through a painful internal struggle.

In stark contrast to the honest and straightforward Fu Lao Da, his younger siblings had completely different lifestyles. The second brother Fu Ji'an was the backbone of the Fu family and the most successful person in the Fu clan. In reality, however, he was a very fragile person who pretended to be strong. He led a superficially glamorous upper-class life. Due to being betrayed by his ex-wife early on, he became disheartened about relationships and regarded money as the most real thing. He maintained a nominal contractual marriage with Ming Yue, who was a model. Vanity and flamboyance were her main characteristics, and all her actions were forced. Despite having genuine feelings, she pretended otherwise. Later, due to a broken capital chain, he went bankrupt. With the help of Ming Yue and Fu Lao Da, he overcame difficulties and returned to his family; the third brother Fu Jizhao was a civil servant who lived according to his wife's wishes. Although he had no ambition to climb the political ladder, he lived under the pressure of his wife Xiao Nan, whose expectations for him were high, causing their marital relationship to become increasingly tense; the fourth brother Ji Xing was a third-rate actor in Beijing's entertainment circle. Chasing vanity, he took out loans to buy a luxurious house, struggling tirelessly to repay the loans. Even when injured or sick, he continued to hustle for money. His wife Miao Miao was pregnant but dared not tell him. Eventually, with the help of Fu Lao Da, he returned to reality, woke up from his dream of owning a luxury house, and had his own child; the youngest sister Fu Jiping originally enjoyed a comfortable life teaching piano. However, due to her obsession with the stock market, she gambled away all her savings. Almost losing everything, she gave up striving and only wanted to marry a rich man, neglecting the affectionate person beside her. In the end, her fantasy shattered, and it was Fu Lao Da who helped her regain true love and find happiness.

In these families, Fu Lao Da witnessed phenomena that puzzled him while enduring the "education" from his family members. However, he used his sincerity and positive, optimistic attitude towards life to help these self-proclaimed "happy" and "pursuing happiness" family members return to reality. Everyone found their true goals in life and lived happily ever after.
