Synopsis of Sword:

During the Anti-Japanese War, Nationalist senior officer Wu Kefeng was deeply moved by the righteousness of our Party and joined the revolutionary camp, working undercover within the enemy's ranks as a glorious "undercover general."

Wu Kefeng's fellow countryman officer Ji Shaokang had an affair with the maid Wang Hanmei in their hometown, which resulted in her giving birth to a son. Ji's father forced Wang Hanmei to marry his younger townsman Wu Kefeng. Wu’s parents were understanding and willing to take her in, but Wu Kefeng felt conflicted due to Wang Hanmei's relationship with Ji Shaokang and his unclear political stance. Coinciding with the fall of the nation, Wu Kefeng left his hometown with pain and determination, embarking on the path of resistance, leaving family matters behind.

On the eve of the city's fall, Wu's mother-in-law passed away, and Hanmei searched for her husband to report the death, getting lost in the chaos and losing her only son. Fortunately, she was rescued from danger by our New Fourth Army. Under the education of our Party, Wang Hanmei joined the revolutionary work and was sent into the enemy's Central United Front organization, becoming an outstanding special agent of our Party.

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Chiang Kai-shek's forces launched a full-scale offensive against the liberated areas. Our Party activated Wu Kefeng, code-named "Secret Agent No.1," ordering him to carry out counterintelligence missions and dismantle the enemy army. Due to work needs, Wang Hanmei, code-named "Secret Agent No.2," also went to the military to assist Wu Kefeng exclusively. Ji Shaokang, who had become a secret agent of the Central United Front, was sent into the army to execute anti-espionage missions. The three compatriots with deep grudges gathered on the battlefield, each displaying their skills amidst complex emotional entanglements, engaging in tense and dangerous intelligence battles behind enemy lines.

Wu Kefeng cleverly stole the city defense map, secretly destroyed the city defense facilities, persuaded Commander Ma Huai'an... successfully dismantling the enemy army and turning many progressive officers. However, under the relentless pursuit of Ji Shaokang and the Military Intelligence Special Envoy Lin Shuangmu, they faced numerous dangers and were often on the brink of exposure. Due to the need for single-line contact, Wang Hanmei did not know Wu Kefeng's identity for a long time. Wu Kefeng knew he owed much to Wang Hanmei but could not apologize face-to-face. The two worked seamlessly together in secret operations, yet their emotions were intertwined with grievances. When victory was finally in sight and the moment to pour out their hearts was near, it was already time for life-and-death parting. Many comrades, including Wang Hanmei, sacrificed themselves tragically to ensure the success of the mission. Wu Kefeng bid farewell to his comrades in sorrow and set off alone to Nanjing to prepare for even more arduous tests.
